It's some sort of phenolic or plastic in the end, just replace it with a blank and drill it to size and tap it. Juma and Tomahawk work just fineCan a carbon fibre shaft be plugged the same as a wood one?
Sure, I've done several hundred by now.Can a carbon fibre shaft be plugged the same as a wood one?
Do you remove the insert & then plug it. What material do you use?Sure, I've done several hundred by now.
So you want to make a wood insert instead of a phenolic or Juma insert? It's no different, just choose a wood that gives clean thread if you want to use it with a big pin like Radial or 3/8-10. Maple works great, but it will be a little light. If you want a wooden plug and add a bit more weight, consider Katalox.Do you remove the insert & then plug it. What material do you use?
Do you remove the existing phenolic insert or just drill it? Thanks for the pic.
No. Drill, bore and thread.Do you remove the existing phenolic insert or just drill it? Thanks for the pic.
Where's the black insert?Looks like he doesn't see the phenolic you bored to add the plug, because the insert is black like the cf shaft. He doesn't realize the one you plugged has a black insert instead of a white one, which would show the contrast with your plug
I guess its whatever is inserted to the joint end unless the carbon fiber tube is like 1/4 inch thickWhere's the black insert?
