Plugging a carbon fibre shaft

It's some sort of phenolic or plastic in the end, just replace it with a blank and drill it to size and tap it. Juma and Tomahawk work just fine

Do you remove the insert & then plug it. What material do you use?
So you want to make a wood insert instead of a phenolic or Juma insert? It's no different, just choose a wood that gives clean thread if you want to use it with a big pin like Radial or 3/8-10. Maple works great, but it will be a little light. If you want a wooden plug and add a bit more weight, consider Katalox.

No. Drill, bore and thread.
Where's the black insert?
I guess its whatever is inserted to the joint end unless the carbon fiber tube is like 1/4 inch thick
