Masters Chalk glazing over?

That is weird. Never have seen a cube of Masters do that. The advantage of Masters is that it is dirt cheap so you can just toss it. Masters and Triangle work and I like them better than some of the expensive chalk. But Taom is so much cleaner it’s the only one I really want to use. I do still have Triangle in my dive bar set up. Won’t really affect a filthy magnetic cue ball much…

It does seem to happen often. Masters is cheap so I can switch out whenever.

My guess is that the Pechauer C4 break tips just slight softer than phenolic tips and this perhaps compresses and hardens the chalk when I apply.

Other than that, I am in Pacific Northwest so I am sure it is cold and there is a lot of moisture compared to some regions.
 
I still use Master on my j/b cue, its a little 'grittier' and works better with my White Diamond j/b tip. My only guess on this op's deal is possibly if he palms it and sweat gets on the chalk. I've used Master for almost 50yrs and have never seen/heard of this 'glazing' deal.

Then i would toss it,try another one. I use taom break tips which, like yours its softer than phenolic.
I would also try triangle chalk. You Might fair slightly better😀

Just a thought I had why not take a quarter and run it from side to side on the " glazed over " part of the chalk the grooves in the quarter will cut fine lines in the chalk and may solve the problem ?

Were setting a dangerous precedent here Rusty!! B4 you know it, companies will be coming out with Chalk Picks and Chalk Tappers and every other abysmal device they can think of. If predator did it, they'd sell like hotcakes!!

My guess is, to get any decent coverage, dude has banged that chalk across the tip so many times trying to get it to stick that's it glazed.
Just a guess.
