Tournament fees are out of control

Just how fkn good do you play? You seem to take great joy in knocking players that you'd give your left nut to play like. Been around railbirds like you my entire pool life. They love to talk shit about how little a player makes or them being a degenerate gambler but when they go home to mommie's basement all they dream about is playing as good as them.
Awww someone's in their feelings today.

This is rich coming from the forum's very own Oscar the grouch. I thought you blocked me or put me on ignore a few months ago lol.

I don't know any other 30 year old "railbird", and I own my house. Although I do wish it came with a basement. Try again.

You wake up every morning, come on Azbilliards, open a thread and say

"WTHHH?? Are you an idiot?!? What are you smoking dumbass?!"

I would post numerous examples but your post history is hidden. I literally have one post saying pool players are degenerate gamblers...just one. And I never bash anyone for how much money they make, I simply state facts or show screenshots of the AzB moneyboard.

Don't act like you're some righteous messiah now. You're the one that goes back and forth insulting and personally attacking posters all the time so you might be projecting a little. I'm just here to have fun. Pool is not that serious bud.

It's been quite awhile since i've done a local pool tournament. But what i've seen recently locally for the last few months is nuts. I saw one listed for $200 last night and the week before another one was $75. Plus you have a calcutta too.
The casino in Battle Creek Michigan held a poker tournament a couple months back.
The entry fee was $1100.
They had 2773 entries.

The Rack held a one-pocket tournament around that same time.
Similar entry fee.
They had about 19 entries total.

$1100 for a 1p event???? Good luck with that. Maybe in NewOrleans but nowhere else.

Imagine spending $1K on a cue, $800 on a break cue, and $500 on a jump cue just to say you beat someone in a race to 3 on a barbox.

Oh yeah and you won $95 for coming in 1st place. MOM!! GET THE CAMERA!!!

Can you tell I despise leagues? (sorry not sorry to 95% of players on this forum)

Except that my cue cost originally $400, my break cue is worth $80, and my jump cue is %60::
the rest is spot on.

Everything thing is expensive in NYC. I've never taken any lessons from the guy or watched him give one but if he has consistent clientele...gotta believe people are getting a good value for them.
or are star struck like many are.

in most pool rooms you can find an old timer who for a pittance to take someone under their wing would give more and just as good advice as anyone.
except for just a small few things a top player cant tell or give or show you anything much over what is out there on the net or even right on this site.

yeah right. wtf. Hunter is one of the better known/respected teachers out there. WAAAAAY better that some poolhall old-timer. He has taught everyone from beginners to working with well known tour pros. His site: https://hunterlombardo.com/#home A lil feedback: https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/2-hours-training-with-hunter-lombardo.359320/ Another: https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/pissed-off-at-hunter-lombardo-beware.280113/ Spend a 'pittance'(just how old are you?sounds like a 50's western) and a pittance of help is what you're gonna get. Cheap is always expensive in the long run.

No doubt. Many times such old timers are only willing to help those they see may have a little talent and the right work ethic to put their information to good use vs. those that are making a living giving lessons.
As far a Hunter goes, seems like he's very good at what he does.

so how many of you are now calling him for $200 an hour lessons? if its so good you should be fighting for a spot in his line up.
if not then you may be a hypocrite.

and in life how many people are you paying 200 an hour to for advice or help in life right now. if expensive lessons are so valuable.

No poohall denizens are gonna be able to supply the training/knowledge that a good teacher will. You may get some nuggets here and there but if you want to efficiently learn the game a good teacher is a good thing. There were none around when i started, you just watched, mimicked, learned by playing better players. I still think that's best way but a teacher can reduce the time involved.

how far you gonna dig in on this? this guy's dance card has been full for about 10yrs maybe more. you're logic is lame btw. just because someone doesn't use a teacher they've suggested doesn't make them a hypocrite. i've sent a lot of golfers to teachers i've never used because i know their track record and methods. so i'm hypocrite now??? whatever.

I think both have their place

FWIW, I live in NYC and I get lessons from two coaches. One charges $150 per hour and the other $185. I have no problem with spending my money this way.

As for the cost of pool lessons, I recently looked at the price of golf lessons. Seems like $150 for half an hour is not uncommon. I imagine some of that time is spent helping you understand why you need a new putter with a wider sweet spot.

And a round of golf at Pebble Beach is gonna be about $1000. Per person.

You guys are playing pebble beach?
I need a better job🤣🤣

...
The last time I was at Pebble Beach, I was just north of the 7th hole. Reasonable visibility and a lot of fish in the kelp. It turns out that The 17-Mile Drive is free for scuba divers as coastal access cannot be blocked in California. (For normal people, it's $11 to drive on the road.)

I will definitely take this drive when I'm out that way. My game is more fit for the muni or executive 9's. I have no business on a nice course 😆.

they had a famous tree on that drive. i wonder if it is still there. i know, garzar will google it and inform.
and they patented it and said they would sue anyone who used the pic of it.

i used to travel around with a golf pro and they have an unwritten thing that the club pro lets the pro and crew play free. so i got to play all the famous courses even in hawaii, around except pebble as they wouldn't allow that.
but back then it was only a hundred or so.
