Cues for home guests - house cues or your own?

A few years back, a guy told me that when people visit his home to play, they use cues from his collection. Not bargain-basement or standard house cues. This stuck with me as a nice idea. I'm about to finish my own pool room, and am considering the same approach. I have 2 house cues that came with my table (may or may not be worth putting new ferrules / tips on), and my own cues are decent quality but not super high-end. They're all straight, and have decent tips on them.

- Action player cue with wrap and maple shaft
- Action junior size cue
- Players wrapless with REVO shaft + maple shaft
- Meucci Merry Widow player with Pro shaft
- Jerry Olivier Merry Widow with wrap and CF playing shaft + maple shaft
- Jerry Olivier basic wrapless with CF break shaft
- super heavy Xcel breaker
- one of those ASKA cues from Amazon
- plus the two house cues that came with the table

(I also have two Catalog-era Palmers; those are for players only!)

Friends and guests vary widely in playing experience; most just here for fun and a very informal local neighborhood league.

Thoughts?

Depends who are the guests, how well they play and how well do you know them in regards of taking care of the cues.
When I visited HK many years ago, I played with some of the HK guys that I met through this forum, and one of them lent me one of his Szambotis to play with…

The players are cheap enough not to worry about it too much.

This is a question that will get as many different answers as when someone asks for a tip recommendation. Just do what you think is right.

I don't lend out my cues because most people don't know how to chalk correctly and keep the ferrule clean.

Agreed. And good point on the chalking.

I like the idea of having good cues for guests to play with. I rarely have any adults over that I wouldn’t trust with my better cues. I do have 1-piece Dufferins and a handful of McDermott Luckys and Stars for the kids and less respectful adults to use.

I wouldn't even let a "less respectful adult" into my home.

I would just put out some typical budget good cues. If I see that some of them know what they're doing and takes good care of those cues while playing, I'll ask they if they want to try some other cues.
