What FargoRate is the 9 ball ghost? Data included.

No, it's nothing like that. The question is simply: "how good do you have to be to beat the ghost?" Nothing more, nothing less. It's been a recurring question over the years. You're reading too much into it.
the fact that you're still following posting about something that really means nada tells me a lot. I'll say this and then i'm done: there's a guy from Springfield Mo named Andy Friedhoften. I sat and watched him beat the ghost races to ten 10b on a 4"pocket GC4 like it was child's play. WHY??? Because for good players that can break decent its STEALING.

How much difference do you think the cloth makes? 30 points?
I could go with that as a pure guess.

The one data point that might be comparable is the 7' diamond vs 9' GC, since it was me shooting on both. 95 difference. Seems right. I look like a half decent player on a 7', and a banger on a 9'.

I think I’ll change my mind on this. If I was playing someone 30 points above me, and we could magically lift up the balls and put on new cloth on my inning, and year old on his, I think he’d still beat the snot out of me.

I’d guesstimate new cloth is worth 10 FargoRate points.

The only time I’ve ever seen anything remotely close was an action match between Jeanette Lee and one of the Dominicans at the expo around 2005. They played an ahead set for 30 large (per man). Her husband George had all the post cash in a shoebox. The game was on her break she broke 9 ball. On his break he broke 10 ball. This was on a 9’ Diamond in the basement. They started at midnight. Ended about 9am. The Dominican won.

The best part is she made up her face and an hour later was signing autographs on the main floor for all the squares.

actually the ghost should be the better test of one's fargo rating. as little luck is involved as the balls are spread most times and you get an easy start.

assuming most will break them open. but after enough games it should sort itself out.
and a person with a legit fargo rating should do better than one that has a lower one. of course you can find a way to make an exception.

even fairer would be to spot any that go in on the break so all start with 9 balls every game. and spot them so as to keep it open.

Me personally, I'd bet all day long on the ghost vs a 699 and below on a normal pool room 9' pro-cut Diamond. All day and tomorrow. 500 robustness on the player minimum.
Go to one of those $1000 entry tournaments and you will find quite a few sub-600 Fargo players who beat the ghost.

And all of them have well over 500 robustness.

I think the impact of new cloth is greater the harder the table. On a WNT tuned table once the cloth is old so many balls that “should” drop just don’t. I’ve seen 700+ players hang balls. So I would guess it’s multiple games in a race to 10 where it’s the difference between a win or a loss vs the ghost.

But on say a Valley Bar box, the pockets are already so generous I’m not sure it makes a big difference for a good player.

I just bet on the ghost yesterday vs a very strong local. Sets ranged from 500 to 4000 per set. I'll update later. hahaha.
id bet on you winning that most times on a tighter table with worn in cloth.

it takes a select few to do that.
and less that can bet on it and do it right then and now for the cash.

and always on proposition bets try to add some things that sway it your way or so you can adjust and still win more.
like say shorter sets so it isnt clear to him he cant win.
and moving table at end of set.

i made a big score off a very good bowler years back by insisting i can have him move lanes at my discretion, and he only had to break 200.

i slaughtered him for all he had.
