Basically, I only compete in one pocket. I am considering the prospect of dusting off my 9-ball game. These days, I think rotation players have to be proficient with a jump cue. Accordingly, I am considering an investment in a decent jump cue. I am interested in your recommendations on jump cues if you have them.

I am particularly interested in any insight on a comparison between the JFlowers JMPR and the CueTec Propel. Most things I have found so far, suggest the cues are comparable, but the Flowers cue is a bit cheaper.

Thank you in advance.

I have just bought the CueTec Propel SVB Ghost edition cue. It comes with a feather light shaft that looks to be 14 mm. The handle is two piece, the main handle and a short weighted extension which I assume is for longer jump shots.
I am not much of a jumper and prefer kicks but I will say the cue opens up a lot of options.

The handle is 16" long without the extension on it so measure your storage pouch, to make sure it will fit. Mine does not fit in my JB case side pocket.

Lawyer Dave, in my day we jumped full table with a Meucci!

I'm not familiar with the J Flowers but the Propel is a really good jump cue and it jumps super easy. I've owned a Predator Air Rush, currently own a Wheat State Quantum, and have hit with the Propel a few times. I would take a Propel over the Air Rush and it would be my choice for an easy to buy cue. The first time I tried the Propel I was really impressed with how easy it was and it felt great. It gets my vote.

Just get you one of those cheap CF jumpers from Amazon. They jump better than several other jump cues I have by custom makers, sorry to say. Unless you're a purist and the cheap stuff bothers you. The one I have is effortless. I haven't tried a ball width yet, but 2 balls is no prob. Consistently.

Thanx for the tip, I did not know people found some success with the cheap CF jump cues. I will add this to the list of potential options.

Ive never used the J flowers jump cue but i do own the propel and have been able to test it against the Air rush and Purex jumper. I find that i have a lot more control with the propel compared to the other ones, i can also jump a lot closer with my propel.

Which one did you get, if you don't ming me asking? Also, some reviews I have found suggested that changing the tip on the cheap cues makes them even better? Has that been your experience?

Oh man! Once I started breaking out the jump cue in one pocket, my shot options nearly doubled! Good thinking.... :]
