Cue extensions for schon's?

3/8 16 tpi is the thread if Im not mistaken. Not sure if your gearbox has SAE thread pitches or not.

That seems to be correct, given the measurements. Thank you for clarifying that

My thread tolerator didnt have that thread listed

Kim, please share a picture of what you come up with and how you like it. There is always room to do things better and from a mechanical approach I would like to see what kind of improvements you come up with. The thread to fit the butt section is definitely worth improving up on. It is too late for me to try that but it would make this adapter a lot more viable solution for the rest of the players with Schon cues.
I'd be glad to hear that coming up with this and writing about it turns out to be helpful to someone :)

I did design and make extension for Schon by my own. If you're interested in ordering it, please PM me. Thanks

Tiger extension for schon

Tiger Products "Schon" Extention, the best by far!
This Tony the owner of Tiger Products putting an extention on my schon cue, it is awesome, everyone loves it! it's solid and it fits in my case. It added less then a 1/4 OZ (if that) to my cue! Awesome work!

How much does cost to do it ?

I recently bought myself a Schön cue, and as I already had a Mezz Exceed extension to go with my Mezz, I came up with and adapter that replaces the original weight bolt and makes a Schon accept a Mezz X bumper.

I will offer you a clear mechanical drawing that shows all the dimensions required to make one just like mine, but before that I need to bring up the following; I am not in anyway responsible for the accuracy of following dimension, or for any damage you may cause to your equipment.. This following drawing, and all the dimensions on it is made specifically to fit my personal cue, a Schon BW3. Check yours before doing anything, I am not sure if all Schons are identical at the butt end.

And after all that, on to business:

The drawing for the adapter piece:

E: Thanks to Chuck Fields for correcting the thread that screws on butt 😄 The correct thread is supposedly 3/8 x 16tpi. My adapter piece is made with metric M10 thread, and the butt is threaded for that too. With the 3/8 inch thread there is no need for any modifications to the butt.

The idea is to make an adapter piece that screws on a schon butt, and has a thread to screw a X bumper on it at the other end. A few pictures to make things clearer;

After machining the adapter piece you can screw it in and tighten. The adapter piece should extend out of the butt for some 0.1-0.4mm to make sure that the extension screws on it tightly.

I made the 3mm holes on it to be able to remove the adapter piece afterwards and to tighten it before attaching the bumper piece on it. I used a special tool that we manufacture at work to tighten it, below are a few pictures. We make them in several sizes, the one pictured is the smallest one available. It is usually used to assemble and disassemble hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, but I have found the smallest one quite helpful with pool accesories too ;)

Then we move on to the bumper; The thread is very close to a M14x2mm standard. It is a bit too shallow to go in a standard m14 thread without modifying it gently beforehand. Just take a M14 threading die and screw the bumper in it. It will take a very slight cut from the bottom of the thread, but it will now fit the adapter properly.
Then you can simply screw the bumper on the adapter and you are pretty much done and should look like this:

Then you can enjoy your Mezz extension on a Schon cue.

Feel free to ask me if I left something out, I will gladly help you out if I can. Please give me your opinions about it, would like to have one or is it just a junk piece of metal 👍
Its very nice... u got pm...

I think the Jacoby extension allready has a 3/8 by16 thread in the bumper so you could just install that with no modification involved

I got the one from cuefits. It works well, but I'd love to have a real quick reale like predator or longoni.
Maybe I will try to adapt the longoni system. But first I need to know, if I can shorten the pin of the extension.

Sorry, my english is not very well. I'm from germany.

I believe the Schon butt thread is 5/16x16 and the Jacoby is 3/8x16.
No, the butt thread is 3/8", joint thread is 5/16"
The extensions and butt adapters that I showed with the Schon logo on them were made by Rick Roper and were an excellent solution to getting an extension for a Schon cue at the time. Also doing it that way you still had full availability of changing butt weight bolts.
Shortly before he quit making extensions, he came out with a quick release version that was really nice, but for me wasn't worth buying all new stuff. The Quick release version resembled this, but with a longer thread length for weight adjustability.
You could also do like I do with my Jacoby butt weight bolts and that is to go to your hardware store ans buy smaller ones that are only about .2 oz and just screw them in the threaded hole for finer weight adjustability. To do this though you would probably need Jacoby's tee handle allen wrench because of it's long length.

Will a Jacoby extension kit work on the Schon?

Been a while since I owned a Schon. I dont know if the threads would be long enough. You would need to make a spacer at least. Cuefits has a number of bumpers/adapters you might use since they have them in different lengths. Might be cheaper also since the Jacoby one is 50.00

Will a Jacoby extension kit work on the Schon?
No, I just looked and took my Jacoby off to see. The Jacoby bumper portion is too short as the Jacoby is only inset about a 1/16" or so, where the Schon is inset a 1/2"-5/8". It would be simple to make a spacer sleve to fit inside the Schon recess. The only issue with that is there may not be enough thread length to keep the butt cap secure on the Schon then. I'm sure that is why Rick Roper used the Quick release setup he used. I may still have a picture of it, I think I do and will update this post shortly.
I may go out to my shop now and make a spacer just to see, but I think the other or bumper with the built in spacer is the way to go. Quite simple actually, you just may need to slightly machine the built in spacer length so that the bumper sticks out the correct length for the extension used.
This really would be a simple thing to do for Schons, why some cuemakers on here don't offer this baffles me.

So I went out to the shop and quick made a spacer. Was really simple as I just used a piece of 3/4" inside plumbing pipe and turned the outside to fit. Pictures show the Jacoby QR extension bumper insert and it fitting on a Schon. I don't recommend using it this way as it only screws in apx 2 turns. A taller bumper would allow you to shorten the spacer to get another thread or two hold down, but even then it's iffy.
The way to go is one similar to that top one in that Prather picture or a similar one I showed in my earlier posts.
They may work without modification, may not though as the distance the bumper sticks out has to be correct. If they fit long, it would be very simple to correct that for the extension used.

This looks really interesting. $28 for the extension and bumper. Bolt is long but you could cut back to achieve desired weight.
Tried to link but didn't work. Amazon
