Just my experience, hope it helps, if I try a new tip I leave it on for 2 months to give it a chance even if I don't like it initiallyInteresting.

This is interesting since the black and clear black are the same tip, just one is pre-glued to a clear pad. Not sure why you are getting better results. Personally I got tired of the constant maintenance. It’s why I switched to Kamui Black Clear version. I was using Kamui Black medium that kept glazing.
Shooter08 recommended trying Black Clear soft over a decade ago and it’s never happened again.
I'm hesitant to suggest anything as tips are a bit personal. I like hard tips. I'm currently using milkduds but when I used layered I really liked the Zan tips, I used the GripHard version. I've not used them but Ultraskins get really great reviews here. What would you suggest?
My personal opinion Ultraskins are crap. One step above LePro though. Again just my opinion. I know Tom is a good guy with great service. Just not for me. I like hard tips. I used Kamui black hard on a Barnhart cue and it responded great. The sound was a little annoying but the result was there. I put a Zan on for a gentleman and it just felt dead. He hated it as well. I believe it was a medium. A very good friend of mine uses the Triangle milk duds and get swears by them.I'm hesitant to suggest anything as tips are a bit personal. I like hard tips. This is why everyone groans every time a new best tip thread appears. There is no best tip or tip size, cue weight, ferrule etc. try different ones until you find what works for you. I have tried some different brands (too many to have tried em all yet) I personally love the Ultraskins. Doesn’t make me right and you wrong or vice versa. Totally agree. My opinion on Ultraskin is that, just an opinion. I believe there is a best tip and best ferrule. If you like hard tips look into the Bulletproof Recoil tip, they are not leather but are BCA legal, animal hide is like wood, it's inconsistent in grain ect, one of the benefits to CF is consistency, I found that to be the same with the Bulletproof tip, you get consistency from tip to tip, I haven't tried the Medium or Soft tips so I can't speak to them.Totally agree.
