8 Men still in Buffalo's 1 Pocket 2026

one pocket isn't really meant to be played in a tournament setting for this reason in my opinion- it is really intended for gambling matches. 7 hours is way too long for a tournament match
strange commentary :)

the players like it. the spectators love it. Best and biggest one pocket tournament of the year.

its obviously not for everybody. but nobody makes you play in it or watch it :D

That's true if the tournament has a schedule. Players expect to leave Monday morning. There are fixes, and I think the TD has to be ready when a match goes beyond a tolerable length to implement one of those fixes.

Seven hours is a long match, but there was a match at DCC that went seven and a half for a race to three. I see no reason why Buffalo's couldn't have a 12-hour match.

Well, Chohan just defeated Compton 5-4. Tony was sort of fortunate because of an apparent oversight by both of them. Tony was breaking in the even-numbered games (i.e., when the match score totaled an odd number). But then Tony broke out of turn, i.e. twice in a row, in the 7th game. The score was 3-3 and Chip should have had the break. The new breaking order continued, making Tony the breaker when they got to the hill/hill game at 4-4. After 3 fouls, 2 by Chip and 1 by Tony, Tony ran 9 and out for the win.

Given the difference between tournament payouts and the Calcutta, this really is kind of a gambling match don’t you think? This tournament with long races and a big Calcutta is just unique.

That's all on Chip.

gorst/Bustamante
was one of the best onepocket matches i have seen
they played 9 games
so under an hour each game
the games went long because of excellent play
NOT BECAUSE IT TOOK FOREVER TO SHOOT
big difference
If players want the luxury of the <ultimate> pool experience, they need floating wagers like poker or the cube like that board game. Guy with the chips at the end etc...
Interesting the long sets were Bustamante - his fault?

If you guys want to watch such long matches, that’s fine-it’s just not for me. Anything longer than about a 2 hour match is my limit.
