Have you wanted to try a CF shaft but want a shaft that is closer to 13mm?

Here’s what Bob said about his black dot shafts...

The Meucci Black Dot Shaft
What makes the Meucci Black Dot Shaft different from other shafts on the market? The primary difference is in the construction. Utilizing similar technology to the Predator shaft, the Meucci Black Dot Shaft is made with 35 flat Northern Hard Rock Maple laminations to give pool players reduced deflection.

Unlike the Predator "pie" structure, the black dot shaft Meucci stacks the 35 layers as you can see in the image. The black dot on the shaft marks the area where there is less than 2% spine differential for those who can detect the slight nuances this may cause. The result is a shaft with less deflection. In fact, Meucci states that black dot shafts "out perform all other competitors' shafts by a minimum margin of 50% less deflection, with increased power as a bonus."

I never said increased power as a bonus, I said it transfers the power of your stroke more efficiently, these 2 statements are entirely different 🙂
Tomato tomato.😉

SSP…….you would make a horrible trial lawyer with your logical thinking.
Doesn’t lose power ……adds power……a difference without distinction.

Mensabum got it right. The outcome is the same result with either one.
Isn’t that what the discussion is about….not losing vs. adding….In the final
analysis, it is the results that matters, not some debate about terminology.

Have to disagree, adds power makes one believe if they use said shaft it will increase their power, this it will not do, how it works is important, transfer more energy from YOUR stroke does not imply adding power your honor, it implies that any power increase is limited to the quality of YOUR stroke, I rest my case your honor.......

I respectfully submit that when stroke A is played with a carbon shaft and the resultant energy is X and the exact same stroke A when played with a wood shaft produces resultant energy Y, we can
reliably conclude and concur the two measured results will be different.

The proposition is that CF shafts transfer power more efficiently which I defined in one of my earlier posts. The question is whether adding power vs. preserving power thru more efficient transfer of energy is the same. Of course it isn’t whenever you wind up with more than you started with,

But semantically speaking, if a player winds up generating power using the dictionary’s definition of efficiency, they get more delivered with a CF shaft versus their wood shaft.

If more is greater with a CF shaft than what is produced with a wood shaft, it isn’t adding power but technically preserving it.
My original post was more intended as satire than a statement of fact.

Most players don’t give a shit about the technical facets of their pool cues. They typically don’t know the weight of their cue or brand & hardness of the tip they’re playing with.

So yes, a shaft is not designed to add power but merely deliver it.

A shaft can add to/increase the amount of their power delivered to the CB.

I don't think players need to obsess over the minutia but if you don't understand what you are not doing correctly or why the tip you are using does or doesn't work for you so you have an idea of what to try, I'm using so many things I thought I would never like, an open mind and willingness to try something new is all it takes.

Increased power would mean the shaft would ADD power, transfer power more efiiciently would mean the shaft would not lose as much power but add nothing, not the same......, you did make me look into CF fibers, learning new things is never bad.
Appreciate that.
Now I just need someone to do the same thing for me.😉😂

The players power stays the same, a shaft transfers more of their power or robs some of their power, how you use that information is up to you, I have had a flaw in my stroke for a long time that I had a break through today, I had to understand exactly what I was doing wrong, I was trying to make the snap of the wrist and follow through 2 different things, I tried making them all one motion and it was like a light switch turned on, this will cause me to change the way I stroke the ball now, understanding exactly why I was not getting the desired result helped me figure out the solution.

I recommend anyone into minutae check out weave types, twill, satin, plain. Tow types as well, and how these are woven. Unidirectional, symmetrical checkerboard type patterns. You see these in most shafts. Plain weave.
Higher the tow count, the more brittle CF becomes, requiring weave alteration and all sorts of fun stuff. Check it out!!👍🏻

is it all about shaft? but what about the butt?
I know Becue spent a lot of time on their butts as well, they talk about orienting the direction of the fibers in their butts to maximize transfer of power, 3 years is a long time in R&D before mass production of your cues, these guys were working with CF building other products before deciding to try and build a complete CF cue.

Appreciate that.

All knowledge is relative, 3 people are on a plane in Alaska, the world's most prestigious microbioligist, Carl Sagan and Billy Bob Jones on an Elk hunt, the plane crashes 100 miles from any town in the Alaskan wilderness, who is the smartest person on that plane now ?

Bob Seeger’s song Understanding sums it up aptly……”They call it understanding, a willingness to grow……..I’m finally understanding, there’s so much I don’t know.”

The guy who never boarded it, would be my best answer.😉
This is an old take on perspective. Just shows how people view the same events differently.

To Becue, there really is no other answer.......
Not so sure about that.
I've run across guys, machinists, playing around in their spare time that have come up with some seriously off the wall game changers, but really don't give a rat's ass about marketing them. They did it for their own satisfaction. And prolly wouldn't let it be known anyway. You'd have to dig.
I like to dig. Ya dig??
