Lowest deflection kielwood

For all the kielwood users out there, whats the lowest deflection kielwood youve used?

Im looking for z3/revo level deflection but in kielwood

Leaning towards the SS360/2 but I havent been able to get my hands on one to try it out.

Thanks

Justin Bergman seems to like his Bob Danielson Kielwood shaft a lot, because he has been using it for a long time. Take a gamble, and just order one directly from BD. I imagine they are pretty expensive though. I never see them for sale online though,on the used market, so I assume that means that players hold on to them, because they really love them.

Pat Diveney makes a Kielwood shaft too, and I can only imagine that it is a really great playing shaft.

I would personally care much more about feel, then low deflection, but that is just me.

I've made many torrified maple shafts. And I am currently playing with one.
Low deflection = lower end mass = removing material at the end of the shaft and using very light ferrules.
Yes, torrified maple is brittle and I've seen shafts explode. Boring them out makes this even more likely.
Do not accept a torrified shaft without nice straight grain. If the grain runs off, that's where it will break.
I've had very good luck with radially laminated shafts, and have yet to see one break.

Maybe that is why Lucasi cores their Kielwood shafts with Carbon Fiber.

Yes. Bergman has been playing with my SS260/2 shafts for some time now. And, yes, he breaks with the same cue he plays with. And to Flakeanddrun.... no, you don't have to use a glove just because it is KW. Comes down to how the cue maker finishes it.
That’s basically what I said. They’re finished in different ways. I wear a glove because I live in one of the most humid cities on earth. Don’t like gloves to be honest. The Hayakawa shaft I have is the smoothest of the KW shafts I’ve tried. Lot of people fanboying over Hsunami now that KW has a little more exposure here. Classic Chinese mindset “expensive = good”

Having been through low deflection shaft and kielwood shafts I don't know why anyone would want anything other than
regular maple. This is because with regular maple the amount of allowance needed is enough for you to know what is needed.
When you get to very slight amounts needed and you're playing with something as stiff as a nail, figuring out what to do on a regular
basis gets harder not easier.
Robin, what is the joint type on your playing cue?

I don't even have a joint. I'm playing with basically a stick (solid piece of wood) worked down into the shape
of a cue with a 3/8 x 10 pin. It looks horrific but plays awesome.

My shaft is from another cue (SouthEast) that has a reddish-brown phenolic with a brass
ring. It plays great. Best feel of anything I've ever had.

One thing I have noticed in butt woods is that the Cocobola cue (my shaft came from) is very dense and the feed
back is very muted. I won't play with it on account of that. I have a house cue butt that is a little heavier that has
the same feel and is 3 ounces heavier with shaft at around 18 oz.

Here is a cue I found that is about as close to what I'm playing with as I could find to go to
in case I get a cue stolen.

I had a guy here make the stick cue for me because I was looking for a very light cue because when I was young I played
with light cues off the rack and I remembered having good cue ball control.

Coos Cues I believe and he already had one made. It weighs 15. 30 with the shaft on and I love it.

I have most control over the cue ball than I've ever had.

I can't even understand how people playing with 19/20 oz. cues can control all that.

Today's cloth is so fine that the ball flies across the table, so to me the light cue is the way to feel the cue ball.

I play with Elkmaster milk duds or well pressed elks that aren't spongy.

Super late to the discussion, but Ive tried schmelke kiel, Hsu 1.0, lucasi cf infuzed kiel.
The lucasi seemed to have the least deflection, but was lacking feel. It has more feel than cf shafts minus the fortis, but vs'ing the other kiels I tried & Ld maple I got (wx900, z3) its feedback is muted. Despite that ,its a really good stiff playing shaft once you get accustomed to it.
I actually prefer it over the z3 because its less whippy, thats saying alot , because I was team z2&z3 for over a decade.

I was using the old Jacoby Hybrids bought 2nd hand. The best playing shaft I had was one that was turned down a little and had a little flex in it. I think that shaft with just a little more flex would have been perfect, but I went back to the regular maple. I intend on doing a little back and forth on the former playing shaft Hybrid, but I tried that once recently and its a whole new thing. Not sure I want to go there for the time being.
