I am asking out of curiosity, and it is also of interest to me with my involvement in the pool world.
  • What league do you play in? APA, BCA, TAP, VNEA or other
  • Do you play in local or national tournaments?
  • What table brand does your pool hall use?
  • What size pool table?
  • Cue preferred wood or carbon fiber?
  • What brand cue?

I play APA and BCA. Our local tables are all Diamond Blue Label 7ft for league. I shoot solely with Carbon shafts. I have several Jerry Olivier cues as well as several Lucasi cues. I have a local cuesmith building 2 full splice (from a Prather and TNT blank)

Thank you for sharing. I play BCA. I like that I get to play 5 different players in one night. My main cue is a Jerry Olivier with a McDermott G-4 wood shaft. I tried Carbon Shaft and I really like it, but I seem to play better with my wood shaft, almost 20 years of playing with it might factor in.

  • What league do you play in? APA, BCA, TAP, VNEA or other - APA and NAPA
  • Do you play in local or national tournaments? - Local
  • What table brand does your pool hall use? - Diamond 7 ft. However both leagues "travel" in the area, so table size and brand depend on where we are playing that week.
  • What size pool table? Home is a Steepleton 8 ft. oversize
  • Cue preferred wood or carbon fiber? - prefer carbon fiber shaft
  • What brand cue? - Predator butt with Jacoby Black V4 shaff

USA pool league, BCA, and a local money league.

Probably 8-10 local and regional tournaments a year.

Diamond. 7' and 9'. Most leagues and tournaments are on 7 footers since there are so many more of them available in the area.

Old school wood.

Nitti custom.

Currently I play in a seniors and city pool leagues and have played on a VNEA team for one season .

As for cues wood Mike Gulyassy Sledgehammer break cue made in 2010 and my playing cue is one he made in 2005 .

I also have a older Predator SP cue I'll use every blue moon .

As for tables Valley 7' bar tables even if I'd rather play on 9' tables or even a 10' as I enjoy a good challenge !

BCA league
  • Do you play in local or national tournaments?
6-8 local plus Vegas BCA
  • What table brand does your pool hall use?
Dynamo - league
Brunswick - home

  • What size pool table?
7ft league
8ft home, but I just bought a 9ft Gold Crown 1 and hope to be on it soon

  • Cue preferred wood or carbon fiber?
Wood - Meucci pro
  • What brand cue?
Meucci

- I used to play BCA, but now I only play Ultimate Pool League. I love the offensive format and the shot clock.
- I'll play in any local tournaments that are"open", and any big tournament around the country that my schedule allows.
- All Diamond table at my local spot.
- The league is on the 7', but I mostly practiced gamble on the 9'.
- Carbon
- Cute SVB Gen II

Another cue I've truly enjoyed playing with is a old Dufferin Sneaky Pete bar cue a friend of mine turned into a 2 piece cue that's over length and even with a bit of a lift in the shaft when rolled across a pool table it still hits a ball very !

The down side of it besides the lift is the length it's a challenge to shoot some shots with a wall or some other obstruction near the table but when there's a lot of space around the table it still plays lights out !

  • Currently I only play in a non sanctioned BCA 9-ball league. I used to play APA and may go back. I like the race format. I would really like to play ultimate pool but it is not really available locally.
  • Technically both since APA has national tournaments. Other than APA, strictly local tournaments.
  • Unfortunately, my city does not have a pool hall so I play exclusively on Valleys for league. I do personally own a 7ft Diamond Pro AM
  • 7ft
  • I only play with CF shafts. All of the butts for my cues are wood, and I have a bunch of shafts that came with my different cues which are wood, II just never use them. My main shaft is a Tiger Fortis LD.
  • My main player is a Predator Sang Lee 4. I also own Predator Road8 , Tiger TL-2, Jacoby HB2, and an OB(I forget the model). I will often switch cues around but 80% of the time I am using the Sang Lee. I also use a Predator BK Rush and an Air Rush.

BCA, TAP

Small local handicapped tournaments

I don’t remember the brands but on the “competition” side there are: 4x9’ tables for 14.1 and 1P that play fast, bouncy cushions, tough corner pocket angle faces. Shoot down the rail with precision and touch or balls will rattle out; 12x8’ tables. On the “casual” side a few 7’. Other pool hall I play at has 4x7’ Diamonds and 4x7’ other brand I don’t recall. I will try to remember to get the brand names and update this post next times I am there.

I use custom Ed Petersen (EAP cues) CF shaft across many 5/16-18 pin butts: a custom EAP designed and built; a Helmstetter; a few vintage Adams, and an Orchid. An Adam jump/break and a Players (heavy) jump/break.

Bca and vnea. Played apa and apa masters for a bit. Played a private non-handicapped league for a dozen years before I moved.

I pay in local and state tourneys.

We really only have bars here.

Valley tables

Bar box

I use several of both cf and maple.

I made all the cues I use.

OK...
I just finished my first league season in a long, long time. It is a BCA League.
I play in local tournaments.
9 Foot Diamonds, 4.5 inch pockets (a few are 4.25, mostly for one pocket and action sets)
Wood, with a low deflection shaft
Pechauer cue and jump cue. Break cue is junk.

Motivation (not that you asked): Be more competitive in bigger and bigger tournaments, increase Fargo rate as a reflection of improved play and competitiveness, enjoy the game and the people

-I play APA in two separate league areas
-I play in APA tournaments when I qualify for them
-The pool hall I play out of has mostly Brunswick Gold Crown 2s, while the bars I play out of have a mix of Diamonds, Valleys, and maybe some Dynamos and Great Americans
-Main cue is a Meucci with a low deflection maple shaft

I don't live in the USA so we don't have any of the above. I play in a local 8ball league just to have some pool routine.
I play in local 9ball tournaments when I can get off work in time, lately it's not happening very often.
My serious pool day are way behind me... up until 16 years ago I used to compete in a national level.
I also played in a couple international tournaments (2010 European championship and 2010 World teams championship) just to realize that becoming a pro is something that would never happened but it was fun...
Both pool halls I play at have Dynamic pool tables, at one hall they have Dynamic II with 11cm (4.33 inches) pockets, the other club have Dynamic III with 12cm (4.72 inches) pockets, All of them are 9ft. tables.
I play with both Predator 314-2 shafts and various CF shafts that I have, what ever I feel like on a particular day, I can get used to any shaft pretty fast and since I'm not chasing pro career, just having fun, I'm OK with missing here and there because of often gear changing.
I have a bunch of cues, a small collection from years ago, I try to use them all.
