weird 8 ball, or am I dreaming??

Seems to me I recall playing a variation of 8 ball, where make or miss, you just got one turn at the table, alternate shots.

Anybody heard of this or is it time for Grandpa to go to the home??

It seems I remember we did that when we were kids. A vague memory.

Not me, but back in the day it seemed as if there was a different variation played in every single bar or room, so...

As a handicap when playing non-pool playing friends I will offer to only pocket 2 or 3 balls and the 8 has to be shot on its own, they can shoot until they miss.

I played a version of 8 recently where my non-pool playing friends shot like Scotch Doubles but it was more like Scotch Septuples. Their inning was all seven players and their turn was over after all seven had a turn. If any one of them made a ball they would keep shooting until they missed. Then it was the next person’s turn. They called it “Doug against the world”. I pretty much had to run out. It was like playing a FR650+. 😆

They got pretty good pushing balls near pockets. Oh, and if they scratched, the next person had BIH.

I think I went 1-1. Lol.
