New Cloth Colors

I am thinking about having the table mechanic come down later in the year, say around October, and having new cloth installed on both my Gold Crown IV and the Diamond Professional. For you new folks the GCIV is the mahogany version and the Diamond Professional is the Oak Cherry version.

Just wondering what everyone thinks might be a good choice for both? I am currently thinking about the following colors:
Shark Gray
Powder Blue
Apple Green

Right now, as I type this, if I had to choose I would probably go with Apple Green for the Diamond Professional and Powder Blue for the Gold Crown IV. I know alot of tournaments are using the Shark Gray but it's kind of dark and the lighting on the Diamond Professional isn't the best. I am thinking the Apple Green would make things a little brighter.

Thoughts anyone?

I was thinking about what to eat for dinner tonight, here are my top 3 choices...Burrito, Pizza or In-n-Out. Just wondering what everyone thinks might be a good choice. Right now I am thinking In-n-Out

Thoughts anyone?

Pretty please with a cherry on top put 760 on the basement table. I'd like to see if you think it makes it play better in that humid environment. You change the cloth every year anyway, so no big deal if you end up not liking it.

It's not about the color, it's about the way you want it to play.

I really like the shark gray, but it's not offered in 860HR. So, tournament blue it is…

I would stay with the classic green. But having said that, when I used to play in the old Brunswick bowling alleys they used to have tables all different colors. I have to admit I really enjoyed playing on Gray.

Yeah, it is...

I should've said that playability trumps color. At least for us. Many wives disagree though. 😁
Frankly IMO, color affects playability to a point in that on certain colors it’s difficult to see the angles as compared to others for some.

You mention you like shark grey as many seem to now after Emily introduced that stupid color on WNT tables. To me, it reminds me of that ugly ass gold, tan color that they utilized in the very early Sands Regency tournaments long ago.

The owner at the hall I play recently changed to this color on one of the extended subrail tables that the we in the dinosaur club gamble at one pocket on. It created a negative response and we chipped in and paid him to redo the table and switch it back, as no one would play on it. I prefer green but have adjusted to the Blue do its prevalence everywhere, at least you can see clearly on it.

Currently the standard Simonis Green is what is on the Diamond Professional. But it is fairly dark and that's not really a good thing.
Would be cheaper and more sane to put a good light over your tables, and buy a set of Dynasphere Challenger pool balls for $130 as if you can't get a good break with them, it's you, not the table.

Apple Green on the Diamond and Powder Blue on the GCIV sounds like a solid combo. Light colors definitely help with visibility, especially if lighting isn't great. Tournament blue is the standard for a reason but it's nice to mix it up. Just make sure the balls pop against the color. Shark Gray would be too dark for the Diamond imo.

You might want to consider the combination of cloth and chalk… Here’s a post from a couple years ago about that:
