It's also one of the reasons I have never been into Schön cues. I don't own any.

I don't typically like metal rings, especially thin ones, anywhere in cues and have relatively few with them.

So, it is one of the things that stands out on a custom to me when I come across it.

Many times I have passed up a dashed ring Schön and regreted it. My preference is for maple dashed rings.

I don't know why, bad timing, dumb luck, just ended up I don't have any.

Anyway, it was just an example of thin metal rings I don't like.

Yup. Over the years I have passed them up. I don't know why. Just not the right time maybe.

I remember back in the mid 80s when I first saw them. I already had my block letter Joss. I didn't need a cue. When I saw them with the dashed rings I thought they were nice cues trying to look like Joss.

I didn't start collecting until 20 years ago. By that time I hadn't really developed any affinity for them. Most of my collection is 70s and earlier.

If I knew in the 80s what I know now, I would have bought one. Heck I would have bought a Black Boar too...for sure.

Now if it see the right one at the right price I will buy it. There is a specific one I want, saw it recently, price too high. I just don't want it bad enough.

I didn’t like dashed maple rings in my teens, thirties I started to realize they were more conductive to playing cues. Always bee a fan of still joints but know in reality it’s probably an error.

I feel the exact same. It's weird - the thick nickel ring the Tascarellas do looks great, and yet thin it up just a little bit and the same cue looks cheap to me. It's a problem I have with a lot of Scruggs cues.
