Starting Local Pool Leagues

Hi Everyone,

As a kid I used to watch three cushion carom matches on TV and was amazed at the way those players could calculate the right angles and just the right fore to be able to keep their turns going and going. I still think that three cushion carom is the greatest form of billiards. It unfortunately doesn't seem too popular in the U.S., where I now live. Sad to say, I have never been able to play it myself.

Another sport I loved as a kid was tennis. However, my parents could not afford to join the clubs where they played it. So, for many decades I had the desire of creating tennis leagues that were independent of clubs so that any one could join them and play wherever they wanted. So, I finally created DuroMatch. With it players can create leagues independent of clubs, not just for Tennis, but for many sports, including billiards. You can still be a member of a club if you like, but you can also be a member of independent leagues governed by players like yourself.

DuroMatch supports the creation of leagues based on gender and age restrictions. So you can have leagues only for kids, for example, or for seniors, etc. It supports and automates the creation and organization of tournaments at different levels, league, city, region, country and even international.

DuroMatch will never have adds. However, it introduces a feature called Community Resources where users are able to discover genuinely useful resources in their sport, and/or location, like azbilliards forums, for example.

DuroMatch expects members of a league (either singles or teams) to play one match per week. However, you are allowed to mark yourself unavailable twice per month. So it is not hard to keep up with it, but it keeps things going.

It is built with security in mind. I don' t like my personal information being used by others, so I ask very little information from the users, jut an email, and the city where you live so that the software knows where to create your leagues and what local leagues to show you first.

Any way, I hope this is useful for those in the U.S. the next version will be translatable and will support a lot more locations. However, if some of you would like me to include another location right now, in English, let me know. Please check it out:

I'd love to know what you think about it.

For pool there is already Salotto, which is connected to FargoRate. I think a lot of the more serious pool players are more interested in individual play than leagues.
I guess DuroMatch can be a free alternative for enthusiasts who like regular play. Of course, as it grows, it can become enticing for all levels, especially once tournaments and tournament sponsors (prices) become available.

We have something similar in our area and it is free also. It's called, Stick The Rock. I think they have a couple hundred leagues using it. It was developed by one of the league shooters in the Wausau area and not based on the Fargo system, but has it's own handicapping system. We have two person teams, 3 person teams and possibly more. Everyone loves it.
