As always, I look forward to your feedback, comments, questions, complaints, and requests.

Enjoy!

Suppose you have done all the alignment, feathering, and associated CB-OB vision transitions. Then you move the butt of the cue to apply BHE.

The line of the cue no longer connects CB center to the aim point. I know the pros do this all the time and maintain focus on the OB.

But would recreational players be better off focusing on hitting the CB at the desired offset with a straight stroke, and not risk steering the shot because the cue axis no longer is on the shot line?

Points
Lines
Planes
I would expect? 🤔 I have it ba kward.
Well in the ass says mint phase. It goes plane line point.
With the point of contact with the white being on the line Through the ball. The precision of the strike rules, er uh determines the results.
So as long as the precision strike is there, you can close your eyes. (A fun practice drill).
Sometimes getting the cueball up and over obstacle the plane aspect of the aim process pays dividends. 🤷‍♂️
My favorite memory from this week's leagues had me throwing a hanging curve at the 8 ball to complete a table run playing 8 ball. I was hitting them good and over rolled perfect shape on the 8 ball for a tiny little hook by one of the 7 stripes.
Ah the hanging curve depends on the precision of the strike to the white. Period, what a relief when the black ball fell. My opponent would have been favorite if it hadn't dropped. Oh what fun.

I do not recommend a "swoop" or "swipe" stroke, where the BHE pivot is done during the forward stroke.

With SAWS, the BHE and FHE pivots are done before the final stroke, and a straight stroke is used, which I think is more effective for most people.

Here's an excerpt from the SAWS resource page explaining the steps and what to focus on:

When using SAWS, you first look at where you want the CB to go with a careful center-ball aim. Then you look at the tip contact point on the CB as you do the BHE/FHE pivots to ensure you are accurate with the pivots and the desired tip contact point. Then it is recommended you shift your focus back toward the OB but along the new direction of the cue. This will help ensure a straight stroke. You look where the cue is pointing, realizing that the CB will deflect to the desired target identified during the careful center-ball aim.

"Why would I look anywhere else?" is a favorite response when I asked, "Do you look cueball last?"
🤔 if I remember correctly he was the straight pool high run record holder at the time. 🤔
The precision cueball can overcome the POWER shots. And Precision and power are even better.

The opinions expressed by GOATs getting weight over the book learning type opinions. 🤷‍♂️ 😉.
I believe in book learning. An aspect of a proper program. Be it training or just maintenance I believe in having a program. My favorite was Leave it to Beaver.(a joke 🤷‍♂️). 😉
So I weigh the opinions of Stephen Hendry and Ronnie O'Sullivan highly.
Billiards Champion Willie Hoppe said look at whitey when you hit it.
Straight Pool current high runn record holder, Jason Shaw says the same. 🤔

Stephen says the white and Ronnie said, "It Could be Either." Hmmm, he has given lessons. Perhaps he is just being coy.
I pay for lessons.
I even harbor suspicion regarding Judd Trump
As he confirmed object ball last in conversation with Stephen Hendry. I suspect that Stephen saying Whitey last lead Judd to experiment.
Perhaps 🤷‍♂️ As he is rated #1. 🤔

Hmmm Little Johnny wonders how, ""swoop" or "swipe" stroke enters the uh thread topic. 🤔
