Thank you to Mensabum and Cue Alchemist

Just wanted to make a public thank you to Mensabum and Cue Alchemist.

I happened to mention in passing on a thread on here that I don't have a cue. Used to play English pool and the last few years I've taken up playing 9 ball instead, have really fallen in love with the game. But at the moment I'm a student as decided to try to make a mid life career change so not had spare cash to get myself a cue for 9 ball (the tip on my cue from English pool is far too small to use with American sized balls).

Mensabum direct messaged to say he'd like to sort me out with a cue. And Cue Alchemist helped him sort out the delivery.

Really touched by such a random act of kindness. Got the cue earlier this week, took it to my local club for a practice yesterday and really happy without how it plays. Will be playing my first match with it later tonight, which I'm excited for. On a bit of a losing streak against my friend, so hoping to turn that around.

I've enjoyed reading and posting on AZ Billiards since I got into 9 ball. It's a really great community. But still amazed to be on the receiving end of such a kind deed. Can hopefully pay it forward some day in the future.

Both of the forum members you mentioned are gracious, thoughtful individuals and their generosity
is indicative of their character, willingness to help others and desire to reinvigorate and promote pool.

I hope you remain in close communication with both fellows and just like in the Peter Jackson movies,
becoming a forum member is akin to a joining a Fellowship but in this case, we carry cues not swords.

I haven't had much interaction with Cue Alchemist, but Mensabaum is good peeps. Glad they sorted you out.

I will be reviewing that break tip very soon my good man. I haven't forgotten. I just got the shaft that I had made for it. As soon as I can get my arse to a table, I will bust a few racks.

Jaden's break tips are the Bomb!! I didn't post anything bcuz I didn't want everybody beating me to the punch.

My initial thoughts after scuffing the tip, are promising. It felt a little like phenolic when I first started messing around with it, but it scuffs like extremely hard/pressed leather. Maybe it's resin impregnated, though I am not sure. Seems to hold chalk VERY well. I'm interested to see how it performs.

It's actually a type of vulcanized rubber. Although when most people hear rubber. they tend to think bouncy and soft. These tips are anything but. I will eventually also have my original idea for standard playing tips which will be resin impregnated, but leather. I don't want to get into the details until I have them fully prototyped and ready to go to market.
