Anyone Familiar With Cue Maker Dave Wilmoth?

Has anyone ever heard of a cue maker named Dave Wilmoth located in Las Vegas, Nevada?
I bought a cue on eBay that was represented as a custom-built Wilmoth cue, but after receiving it I noticed some things that made me question whether it’s authentic. I’ve tried researching Dave Wilmoth and haven’t been able to find anything about him as a cue maker.
Before I assume the cue is a fake, I wanted to ask here. Has anyone heard of him, seen one of his cues, or know anything about his work?

Well, I thought I was getting a halfway decent custom few and it looks more like he removed the clear signed it and then cleared over the signature so it wasn’t as described and he’s trying to argue that it is

Yes, I was able to find a Kao kao which is a Taiwan made cue. That looks almost dead on except there’s a slight variance in the rings

A co. called PalmerIndustries bought the name after the 'real' Palmer folded. They used KaoKao as the builder. Not bad playing cues just not worth much.

The dark gray background is the thick I actually purchased. I found this in the catalog 40 601 appears to be almost exact.

I got a J&J sneaky about 26 years ago. Still have it. Good cue.

The taper got thick quick so i just used my calipers and some 200grit and hand-lathed it down. Cue plays super good.

I am not saying this is ideal, but I think the younger generations are missing out on seeing the variety of cue sanding and cleaning techniques that players used to inflict on their shafts. Different grit choices, scotch brite, lighter fluid and so on. Players could often be identified with their cigarette brand and maybe the unique taper of their shaft after years of sanding/ cleaning. Carbon fiber is boring in comparison.

The "maker" is adding their signature to a KaoKao.

Wouldn't be surprised if they are signing it OVER the clearcoat.

I had one of their break cues. The thing was a hammer. Should have kept it.
