PBS Women's 9 Ball World Championship

I was certain Shi was toast after blowing the second set. Beating Chezka in three sets? Tall task indeed. Centeno was almost flawless the last two sets.

I don't even remember Tianqi making awful mistakes after that failed 2nd set closeout, but that failure did catch up to her since Chezka was shooting lights out in the last set and didn't really give her a chance

Seoa vs Centeno tomorrow, it will be interesting to see if Seoa has an answer for her this time (she struggled in the 10 Ball Championship).

And do you guys know anything Ning Huang? She has been quietly breezing through these rounds.

Round up the usual suspects. We've got very chalky quarterfinalists. Outside of Huang, everyone has a Fargo of 737 or better, six of them have a Fargo of 749 or higher and six are among the top fifteen in the world based on Fargo.

In the "everyone gets a turn in the winner's circle" world of women's pro pool, it might just be Chezka's turn, as she is without a major in singles in rotation pool in 2026. Should be fun to watch.

not many. the third set shi won with the highest performance average of the match, 900 something. possibly of the tournament. it looked like she would win.

but chezka really has a great mentality now. similar to luca brecel or mark williams in snooker, very cool and care free.

You can tell when Chezka is really locked in. All she sees is the table and the balls. She forgets the score entirely.

After she won the fifth set, Centeno began to return to her seat to wait for a re-rack. The ref and Shi had to tell her the match was over.

I've seen this happen before and it's totally natural. She is just in a zone and loses track of everything else.

yea, saw that. it was 5th set (increased match length for SE).

Even though Chezka's style produces some seemingly careless errors at times, it's probably for the good overall as she effortlessly runs racks so often.

I think Tianqi Shi will come back strong at some point, she dusted Pia Filler about a week after a disappointing loss to her.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's matches and I'm hoping that Seoa will put on a good performance vs. Centeno. I think Seoa has overall been playing very well, but is gonna need to bring her absolute best to take out Centeno in a long race.

The longer five-set matches for the women are very interesting. My favorite part of the Bali event.

Really testing the women's endurance. Some players clearly seem to falter. Others like Centeno seem entirely unaffected.

I've got to believe a longer match favors Centeno, but we shall see.

This might be the toughest exit Savannah took in a while. To my memory, her losses in the last several events were competitive and to the most elite of players.

She has been improving so much though, it's only a matter of time before she wins one of these big events.

To my knowledge, she has never reached even the semis of a women's WPA World Championship. I'd be delighted to be wrong here, but to me, she's not exactly knocking on the door for the biggest titles and seems a long way from having a sufficently well-rounded game to win one of them.

Still, like you, I see some progress, so I'll wish her well and hope for the best.

Tkach looked pretty good but Rubilen Amit was struggling a bit
Yeah, Kristina was very sharp, especially in her position play. Beating Rubilen, who is just a bit past her prime but remains very tough even in her mid-40s, is always an accomplishment.

Happened at the us tennis open this year as well. The winner didn’t know he had just won it. That’s focus!
If there was ever such an ability to "purposely forget" the score when it comes to closing out the very last game, I'm sure most of us want that ability.

Easton got to the semis this year of the second annual Oneida WPA World 8 Ball Championship. She lost 8-6 to Kelly Fisher. It’s not 9 or 10 ball, but it’s still worth noting. Stacked field, but her most notable wins were over Pia Filler and Fefilova.

I'm hoping as she gets older she stops making those little errors. And yeah, Seoa has been playing well but if Chezka gets in her groove I don't think it will be close. I'm predicting 3-1 Chezka. I'm rooting for Wei but Tkach is probably the better player right now, either way I see a 3-2 finish. I'm rooting for Chen but don't know enough about her opponent to make a guess. Similar with the 4th match, rooting for Chou but don't know enough about her opponent. Either way, I'm guessing Chezka will make it to the finals and I hope she wins it. I would like to see Chou get there too but Chezka is my favorite female player so always rooting for her.

Agreed. I had forgotten. That's a nice achievement.

Stil, 8ball on the big tables allows one to get by without much tactical prowess or grinding. Her high finish is not necessarily a sign of good things to come in rotation pool.

The winners of these pro 8 ball events are pretty much always elite rotation players though.

Not the point. Rotation pool requires skills in defense, jumping, kicking, use of two-way shots, and other tactical skills that have minimal importance in 8ball, where most of the racks are run by the player having the first chance. It enables players who lack the skills to beat opponents to the shot in rotation pool to thrive because 8ball does not offer a stiff test in these skills. Players who run the table well at rotation games but are deficient in the complementary skills pay a far smaller price for their weaknesses when playing 8ball.
