What cue grip to get..

I have one cue with an embossed leather wrap, the rest have irish linen or no wrap. The cue with the leather wrap is my nicest and most expensive cue. I love playing with it but it does seem my hand gets sweatier using that cue than the others. I like the feel of Irish linen the best but own more no wrap cues than anything else.

For me, well pressed but not too slick linen works best in every playing condition - every person will be biased based on their grip tendencies and their own body type - dry hands vs. hands that are more reactive to climate conditions.
If you like linen - the old Cortland is just amazing! The very best IMO - just perfect in all conditions.

I always liked pressed linen until I bought a cue with a lizard embossed leather wrap and now I prefer leather, either natural grain or embossed. It's just slippery enough and just grippy enough, durable, wipes down easily if you're a bit sweaty, and looks great.

I like cork (real cork, not “rubberized cork”, which is bit of cork glued to rubber).

It’s warm, ever so slightly giving, non slippery and also absorbing of a bit of moisture.

I like wrapless. I grew up using the house cues that came with our table, so a wrapless cue just feels right to me.

To be fair, the only wrapped cue I've ever owned was a cheap $20-ish two piece with a synthetic thread wrap of some sort, purchased from Kmart or Walmart in the late-80s, when I was a teenager. I could tighten the wrap just by twisting it in my hand. It sucked in both workmanship and feel, even though it was still the best cue I had available.

Years later, when I owned and played with a Bob Frey sneaky Pete, I test-shot with various friends' cues with pressed linen wraps, and they were much better than the POS I owned as a teenager. I still preferred the feel of wrapless, though.

Aesthetically, a nicely figured hardwood handle is much more appealing than any linen or leather wrap, IMO.

I prefer the feel or wrapless but find that the aesthetic or linen can't be beat.

I'm only 31 but that sort of four point + multi colored veneers and linen wrap combo that you'd see in a 1968 pool hall is my favorite.
