Phillipines Open

What a final and atmosphere.

Makes me laugh when people say the Phillipines Open isn't a Major.

It's just as important as the US Open is to American fans.

The prize money is low as Phillipines is a poor country, but this will hopefully change over time.

that's exactly what i was thinking. but then i thought that may be an old truth, because raga has had some away time and chua has improved a lot tactically

Raga’s been active but more so gambling than tournament play. He did win the Japan Open recently though but I think 10 ball is his game.

Chua not as sharp in the finals, but both players were feeling the pressure. Can’t see how he doesn’t get a WPM wild card. Tremendous week for a guy who has been off the tour.

yes of course he dogged it a bit, but baseth played well also, and was brave in his shot selection. congrats.

i would have preferred to have a westerner in the semis, but well done philippines..
Well two of the games were directly won from misses that shit a ball in to continue the run.
SVB would have won around 10-5 or 10-6 if not for the bad luck.
I know it happens but it's rough to see it when you travel half way around the world to play the world's best and get beaten in that manner.
No bid deal for my local Sunday tournament but those two racks changed the trip from profit to loss for Shane.

Jason Shaw has been looking kind of erratic for months compared to the high he was on.. but thats the up and down of pool. It’s what makes svb’s long run amazing.

Shaw almost looks unserious to me at times. When I watch him play I keep waiting for him to do something that seems careless to blow a set.

SVB seems to have two speeds. His peak speed looks almost unbeatable. He gets out in close to impossible racks. But sometimes he seems mentally "off" and screws up key racks where he should have gotten out.

Every time watching Shaw play is just like this... It's why we watch. It's why MR gives him the air time lol

It was a little weird watching Chua's new style. More finesse, less power. Reminded me of Wu Kun Lin at times!

He said he had working on it for a little over a month. Amazed he snapped off a major WNT event.

Chua still was as decisive as ever, though. He rarely waited to shoot until the beeps on the shotclock winding down began.

Raga had a chance to pull off the comeback, but his shotclock management proved to be his undoing. Again.

Just to play devils advocate here - SVB also had 2 golden breaks and benefited from a 9-ball that was missed and hung up in the pocket
