Finding your Fargo/or skill level when you don't play in leagues?

If you have the time I would point you to the BU exams but given you're only playing 10 hours a week I'm going to point you to Bowliards. One set should take you about 30-45 minutes and will give a general idea of how you play. Don't think you'll play one set and know where you stand, play 10 sets over a 5 day period and post your results, and we'll tell you where you stand.

There is a website devoted to it; however, I have not used it, I have either used a piece of paper for scoring or used an online bowling calculator and screenshotted the end result.

This is the bowliards website..

This is the only calculator I have used online...

IMHO, the ghost is good for people who can run the table (either occasionally or consistently), if you can only run the table 1 in 10 times the ghost will always win and will teach you nothing, bowliards will give a more finite idea of where you stand.

fargorate says im a 450 with no robustness.

1/10 is probably pretty generous for me, maybe 1/20 is more accurate, but when i play the ghost i dont start counting til i win a rack. Then its time to knuckle down and try to get two more before losing three.

ive gotten close a couple times but still havent ever got there.

i think what it teaches me is pressure, of which i generally feel none.

hope you are well Sir Chilli

You sir, are not a 450 ;)

And right back at ya, hope all is well :)

So, I usually spend around 10 hours of week on my personal table (8' professional) practicing and playing the ghost and usually play one match a week with a buddy. A couple of races to 9. what is the best way to determine my "level"? BU exams? wins / losses? Never played in a tourney or league. Just shoot and practice because I love it and find peace doing it.
There are lots of ways to estimate your rating. See the video and article at the bottom of the page here:

The only way i would figure out a fargo rating would be to play players that have a rating. But this is proabably the most accurate chart out there.

yeah i think it was based off of like 14 games or something. it doesnt seem like theres a lot of normal big table 9 ball tournaments around here that report to fargo.

it seems to me that its usually some kind of 8 on the front 9 on the back race to 2 with a bunch of other goofy rules type tourny that reports their matches.

the one i played at was at GK billiards but i don’t think they’ve done it since. it was just wpa 9ball no funny stuff, big tables, small pockets. i was actually hitting them alright that day but the other guy was super slow and i ended up rattling like an 8 and then a 9 later to lose.

still i doubt its really THAT far off. fargo doesnt really care what you know or how hard your out was it just says whether you win or lose at 9ball, and i can ALWAYS figure out a way to lose that stupid ass game lol
