2026 AZ Billiards Straight Pool Challenge!

I guess this comes from never actually going out and playing someone in an actual poolroom. Bob is correct. If you check the comments on your video you'll see I pointed out the same thing.

I also mentioned your pace of play. It's painfully slow which makes watching very difficult. You play fairly good but I think speeding up would help you play better. Also, which I've mentioned before, you need to get the camera angle higher up and closer to the table. Either from the foot of the table or the side. As viewers, we can't see angles very well and as such, are unable to offer cogent advice.
Again, templates are new. I played this game growing up and places I was stationed. Returned to it after I retired and no 9 ft tables around. I don't know if I will play faster. I tried it at times and I don't focus that way very well and miss easy shots. I would love to play better faster and see the table better, but I am not sure that is realistic. 10 minutes per rack is pretty good to me. Some are easier, some aren't. I don't claim to be a world beater. I will say for a Fargo of 609, there are very few others or maybe none who have a verifiable 100 ball run in this game.

Going faster doesn't have to affect focus. The time you're down on the shot is not excessive, it's everything you do in between. One way to speed up is handling the chalk differently. You make a shot and then walk to where the chalk is. Then you stop, pick it up and chalk the tip and put it down. Then walk to your next shot which may be half way around the table. Once you make that shot then you have to go half way around to get the chalk again. Keep the chalk in your hand until you're about to get down on your next shot, then put it down right next to you. After the shot you don't have to walk to get it. That alone may take you from 10 min. a rack to 8.

You also do a lot of waffling between shots. Of course you have to check angles etc. but once the table's open you should be able to plan 3 or 4 shots ahead. Make a plan and stick to it. Don't constantly second guess. You've played enough that your 1st thought is usually the right one. Try it, what can it hurt. After checking clearances and angles just get down and shoot the 1st shot that came to mind. This going back and forth 2 or 3 times between a couple of shots is not helping you. It's fine when you're at a crucial juncture but you do it all the time.

Just some suggestions that might possibly help.

54 Ball Run. It is 41 minutes though, so you know in advance. I wish I saw the table better, but I don't. First rack I intentionally went faster and I guess I could try that and then the 1st rack would be faster at least. I am paying attention to moving the chalk.

Will watch the rest later. Only had time for the 1st rack, 4 min. 1st ball to last. Don't get mad but probably a little too fast. Even still, big improvement. Obviously the next 3 racks slowed considerably but I'll get back once I watch them.

Finally had time to watch the rest of the run up until the 35 min. mark where it became pretty obvious things weren't going to improve.
Few observations. Overall, I think you made some progress with this run. Chalk situation, huge improvement. You forgot at times but really good. If you can stick with it for awhile it won't take long till it's second nature. Keep it in your hand until totally ready to get down and shoot.

Also, much less indecision in the first couple racks. You say you don't see the table good but I think you do ok with that for now. Granted, end patterns could have been better but for now, establishing better rhythm may help more. Get comfortable with that and improving patterns with be easier in the future.

You're a very good shot maker. I'd make 2 suggestions towards consistently running more balls. Get more power in your breakshots. You had 2 really good breakshots (back cuts) that lay good to hit them pretty hard with follow and spread the balls out good. Especially the 9 ball at 26:30. You should have all the balls open after that BS. That alone may have led to a much higher run.

Secondly and by far the harder, is more precise position. That can be a little down the road but will be necessary to get to a higher level.
