    Tiny lady beginner, shorter cue?

I'd like to give a cue to a family member who is just starting to play. She's a grandmother, just over 5' tall. It seems to me she would be more comfortable with a shorter cue, say 52". She lives in a different part of the country, so I can't see for myself. Recommendations? Experience...

    Some help needed

Pocket colors that stay on? I noticed that the black pockets on all the Diamond Pros at a local "pub type" restaurant have this same problem. They all - 16 tables, I think - have lots of black missing on the pockets, not only on the inside (mainly top curve), but also on the flat tops at the...

    Drop pocket Diamond Pro-Am?

I know, but buying a 5k table and then stuffing rags in the pockets seems a little ridiculous - and the ball return box is still hanging down there. Better (for me) is to buy something closer to what I want to begin with. I've gotten surprisingly consistent advice, and I'm pretty well settled...

    Drop pocket Diamond Pro-Am?

    1. Drop pockets are much easier on my back. 2. IMHO the table would look much better without the big box underneath. I really like the Pro-am features - hidden leg levelers and slate levelers, one piece slate installed at the factory, short installation time, etc. I also like the appearance...

    Rails on furniture style tables

I dont think so. I checked into this, I'll try to attach link. You need to get up above 2500 on the hardness ratings to make a substantial improvement. The various domestic maples are similar. But I'm open to being wrong, this is all theory... Link attempt...

    Are 8' tables dinosaurs?

Pool tables take a lot of room. A home pool room needs table width + 10 feet and table length + 10 feet. Occasional / "recreational" players will be happy playing on 7' tables, which are the standard for many commercial establishments. Serious players want to play on 9' tables, and need only an...

About to spend 5k - Diamond, Brunswick - advice welcome!

I was disappointed by 2 things in the GC5. - The price of GCs has risen, from what I can tell, from $5500 in early 2003 to $8500-$9000 (list) today. That's a lot. Similar to some other Brunswick tables on a % basis. Inflation has been low... - At the same time, even Brunswick's press release...

Confessions of a do it to yourselfer !!

I agree wholeheartedly. But how do you find the really knowledgeable and dedicated person, vs some jackleg who'll throw something together however it will fit and then be hard to find when it's time to pick up the pieces? I suspect there are a lot more of the fly-by-night type around, if it's...

About to spend 5k - Diamond, Brunswick - advice welcome!

Moonshine I grew up in Alabama when making or buying moonshine was how you got "likker". Distilling all the positive responses reminds me of that. What comes out *for me*: - Some top players pool tables (no particular order): -- Brunswick GC (place of honor due to heritage) -- Diamond...

    Drop pocket Diamond Pro-Am?

Diamond Pro with ProAm type legs Fantastic tip, I've never seen one. Does anyone have a link to a picture of one?

And the Metro? Thanks to everyone for their replies. No one has mentioned the Metro. Is that just because it is new and not so common, or because it is not in the same class as the other two?

    Drop pocket Diamond Pro-Am?

From the Diamond web site, it looks like the Pro-Am is ball return only. I wish there was a drop pocket version. Would this require a lot of re-engineering on the Pro-Am (legs, frame, rails, etc), or would a drop pocket version be easy to create?

    GC III and Dirty Pants

Car wax, like Johnson's paste wax, would be invisible and last at least a month or two I would think.

Sneek preview of Diamond's new 3 piece slate leveling system.

Update? It's been a while since the original post with this news - is this new leveling system in use on new Professionals?

About to spend 5k - Diamond, Brunswick - advice welcome!

I read that the Diamond Pro is 3 piece, the 1 piece is the Pro-AM. Does the current Diamond Pro have slate leveling screws like the GC4, or do you have to shim the slate?
