If those slate backers are MDF I would totally agree with your last post. I was under the assumption that the backers were poplar. I think we both can agree that MDF has no business being a slate backer on any commercial table.

I do run all the boards individually over the jointer through the planer and wide-belt before I do any jointery (either mortise and tenon or pocket screws depending on what I am working on). Then I assemble the backer frames and pass them through the wide-belt. Finally I attach the...
Glen, you are exactly right about the MDF and particle board. However, I have not ran into very many situations of different thickness with MDF or particle board backed slates because they are a nominal thickness 3/4" The problem that I usually see with those slates is either water damage or...

As far as I know, Brunswick no longer makes Superspeed in lengths longer than 47". I do have 118" Artemis Intercontinental 66 in stock along with Artemis 37 in 118" length. I also have the import K55 or K66 in 118" lengths. Artemis does not make their K66 profile in lengths longer than 48"...
I work on rails everyday here at Mueller's. Give me a call or PM me, I would be happy to discuss the different options for you rails. Here are a couple of photos of similar jobs. The first three are of a rail liner replacement. The last two are a new set of #3 iron rails that I made for a...
I would first like to say how much I appreciate Glens input on this site. I do however disagree with with his statement that Accu-Fast is only K66 like. I believe the attached photos will show that both Accu-Fast and Artemis #66 are both K-66 profile and can be interchanged without having to...
