I am not really concerned with the math part of it......there is some feel to the shot including speed.....and I agree with you that head height may play a visual factor...(hopefully people don't take normal aim of shots with varying head heights) ......thus the cut comment from above post...
Here is a diagram of what I using as reference when looking at "bottom of ball" I use those points as a vertical axis in aiming. The bottom of the ball gives me a repetitive (easy to see) reference for aiming. L=Left C=Center R=Right
For this shot I used a visual of L point of CB to R point...
I personally do not like using "pivot" methods any more than I have to....but here is an example of a specialty type shot that comes up and a "method" of CTE...(but not "Stan's" CTE) that can be applied......
I use this on really thin rail cut shots... say you are cutting the OB into the left...
This picture sums up my vision of "normal" aiming systems vs "string theory" (CTE) aiming.
I lost count....how many new string theory books have been published? Genius though to latch on to something that needs endless revisions to sell suckers new books......but to come out and say you...
I just had a piece of wax paper in my case.....still do actually....works on both linen wraps and leather wraps......in the late 80s I used this..........On my other stick......(lived in CA)
Walking into a bar room to play...I hate carrying a case...it is just annoying............ and even more hate banging my cue on something which (always) happens in bar room settings........Channeling my inner Forrest Whittaker.....I broke out the little known very rare ASLYS...
Made mine with cutaway finger grip for more precise chalking and easier to get the press fit cover on and off.....TPU being rubber like is also more comfortable and holds up better than PLA.... I just leave the chalk on the table during a match (which actually is a distraction as I have to watch...
I always labeled a shortstop the guy (or girl so I am PC) that did not really go on the road, was not a touring world beater....but made a incoming road players trip a "short stop".
For vertical center...it has already been pointed out that you can find that where the ball touches the cloth.....
For Horizontal center. On any table that has overhead lights....you can see a lighted portion of the ball and a shaded portion of the ball (below horizontal center)....horizontal...
I don't really like using english here when the CB is that close to the rail......I set this shot up based on the picture...CB that close to the rail..........cinch it with straight top....CB goes three rails under the two and bumps it out for a shot in the same pocket.......but....Where the 1...
Well.....actually.......
I have not used contact points for a very long time.......I pretty much ignore contact points.....I use aim points....and even that is actually more aim lines as I do not have the vision to see a "micro point" on a ball....so actually to me it is the contact point that...
