My stance on shooting high.....For some players shooting a little high seems to make them a better player....but if they get too high thier game falls apart and becomes a blithering mess.....so getting high(er) is not always better. ;)
All aiming/alingment systems are simply tools to get you the right feel to make your cut.
CTE is just an over elaborate system that takes work to understand and effectively apply....not that it "can't" get you the correct feel...it is just a bit more than is necessary to get the job...
I don't think you should force lock your wrist...I also don't think you should try and force wrist action....I feel like the wrist action should be a natrual motion.....Forcing wrist action either way is adding another stroke failure variable.....There are already enough IMO.
One thing you can...
One possibility (of course no way of knowing without see the set up)....If you happen to be setting up crooked....meaning your tip may be on the shot line......but if the butt end is off the shot line to one side either way (causing a crooked cue set up).......you now have to swerve the cue to...
Isn't it interesting that it is always the "bad" habits that return and can't seem to get rid of???? ..... I think the mark of being a successful consistent player is being one that has "good" habits that naturally return and can't seem to get rid of.....;)
Here is what I don't get.....After the eye sighting, then re-sighting, then eye drifting...He lays his cue down at center CB to center GB.......Why not just do that from the get go??????🤔
I use a variation of center GB to aim with a couple personal adaptations....You can play around with these and see if they help.....or throw the ideas in the trash as worthless.....LOL:p
I extend the aim line through center GB to a point on the OB where I now aim.. NOTE: The aim point is "NOT"...
This looks like one of those "subconcious" misses.....Here is what I mean.....Most likely you were hitting a stun/stop type shot to keep the CB above the 7 or at least higher up on the 7 to make it easier to get on the 8. Subconciously you felt like you were going to lose CB to the rail below...
What jumps out at me......(I think often overlooked or practiced).....is......for both of these shots....speed is pretty much as important as aim.....You may think you have the perfect aim.....hit it too soft and the end result is an undercut.......hit it too hard and it tends to be an overcut...
These are a couple things I made for straight stroke and also center CB practice.
For striaght stroke I made this attachement that has wings that will tell you if there is any deveation and/or twisting in your stroke.
They go on the tip. You can play all your normal shots with it on and even...
I highly doubt any player never moves thier head a little at times......You can force a still head over and over 100 times but under pressure on certain shots your body will do "naturally" what it needs to do to compensate.......of course ideally you want no head movement........I am sure there...
IMO...It looks to me like the butt of the cue (grip hand) raises up on backstroke....The more power in the shot....the more it looks to raise up (and a more noticable head raise)....Your head and upper body seems to naturally compensate (raise up) with the cue.
I "suspect" your whole upper body...
Don't be too hard on the guy....He will figure it out as he gets better.
IMO....it may be the best learning process....Learn how to play with any broomstick off the rack....then once you have developed some skill and get a type of broomstick you prefer to grab....then transition into a...
Not a fan of a "brace" device......Sure it will stop the twist.....however...it does not cure the cause of the twist wich is improper grip/stance/posture.
With a brace you may be able to force yourself to remove the twist and then force the repeat without the brace for a while....but when it...
Yes and no......
Pool is a lot like golf...but probably even more similar to bowling in this respect.... Golf is a game that can not be perfected...so pretty much impossible to ever achieve your highest level.... In bowling you can bowl a 300 game...so it "can" be perfected but apparently only...
