I have actually been in contact with a cue maker here in Wisconsin that is willing to make me a shaft for my Meucci.
Instead of a checkered collar it will be black, which doesn't bother me.
I have also been considering going with a Sneaky Pete style shaft that has no collar.
Using a tip pick on a layered tip is not recommended as it can cause the layers to separate/loosen.
I currently use a tip that I periodically lightly scuff with fine sand paper as it rarely needs maintenance.

Is there someone that makes a tube style case like my Joe Porper case which is tapered so that the cue goes in small end first rather than the cue going in either direction?
Thanks
