    Pool Ball Shape Testing

If it's phenolic, then it's one of two manufacturers in the world. Saluc and XingBiing. Any set made in Belgium was by Saluc (owner of Aramith brand). This ranges from the lowly $25 Sportcraft to the $400 MSRP Brunswick Centennial. Don't forget Aramith brand have different level tiers...

    Custom cases

Jim Murnak can make a pretty good case. Unlike other custom case makers, he can offer many different styles. I have two cases from him. A butterfly made of soft leather, you think it was made by Coach, and 1x2 fishing rod style (Brunswick). If I had the money, I would commission him to make...

    WPA Rules Question

I agree, it's a terrible call. Why not make the first one a warning? I'm sure news will travel fast in the tournament, and players will be aware not to intentionally break this rule, now that's it clarified.

    Farmingdale, Long Island

If you're going to Bayshore, ask if Mike Fingers is around. He retired from UPS couple of years back. I don't about one pocket, but heard he's no slouch at 9-ball and straight pool. If you come into NYC, there are other retirees such as Frankie Hernandez.

Very good question as 9-ball has a large luck factor which is eliminated in the APA format. As others pointed out, going for the 9 only gets you 2 points, not a game. APA 9-Ball scoring would be better suited for 10-ball or straight pool. It doesn't capture the spirit of 9-ball. When I was a...

Cleaning Balls - Machine vs Hand

It's been a few years. I would clean the cue ball by hand. Put a few drops into a small ziplock baggie, drop in the cue ball and uh 'massage' it. Take it out, swap with the next ball and add a couple of more drops. I built a bucket cleaner, didn't like it as the balls would bang constantly...

    Tube style case question.

Porper style cases are foam core injected construction. This is why they can readily offer taper fit over cases that are built using individual tubes.
