    Super Billiards Expo 2026

Yes, I will be hanging out at the booth with a carom table. My spiel is there are no pockets on this table. You don't have to worry about scratching.

    Vintage Aurora Skittle Pool Game

Skittle pool commercial. *in my get off my lawn voice* No measle or spotted cue ball. You needed a stroke back then, and not nurse the ball into the pockets. No intentional safeties.

Unaware of mismatched ball sets in upcoming tournament.

If they put in all that effort, it doesn't make sense unless they ran out of money. I've seen this happen. Owner only did the front row of tables, and had the cloth flipped on the rest.

    More counterfeit balls

Other than XinBing (Dynasphere, Cyclop) and Saluc of Belgium, who else? So, I'm skeptical when someone casually mentions counterfeit phenolic, as picturing something you can whip up in a backyard shop in Taishan. Until XinBing entered the market, Saluc was the sole producer of phenolic resin...

Unaware of mismatched ball sets in upcoming tournament.

When Tony Robles ran his Predator Pro/Am tour, he would bring his own racks (Delta-13s) and even ball sets dependinng on the venue. Remembering when Aramith Crowns, not Super Pro or Brunswick Centennials were standard tier in NYC poolrooms.

Unaware of mismatched ball sets in upcoming tournament.

For those who don't venture outside of poolhalls, it's not uncommon to come across mistmatch sets in barboxes.

    More counterfeit balls

At this price per set, I'm guessing it's polyester resin not phenolic. Curious who could be OEM for these.

    Happy Chinese New Year

In Chinese, the word for fish (鱼, yú) sounds the same as the word for abundance or surplus (余, yú). This homophone is why the Chinese eat fish on Chinese New Year's eve dinner, and basis for the popular Chinese New Year greeting, "Nian Nian You Yu" (年年有鱼/余), which translates to "May you have...

McDermott cues in The Color Of Money

Prior to this thread, it was my understanding Joss cue were made up to look like a Balabushka. Tom cruise has a famous scene where he plays with 'Doom' and they didn't want to risk the real thing. Fast forward 50 years, and due to bad prop handling Kurt Russell unknowingly destroys a 145 year...

    Live Streaming Video ?'s

If you want to stream league night matches from your phone, Sportcam is a popular option. OBS on a laptop is the next popular option with amateur streamers. Audio-Technica BPHS1 headsets for commentary. vMix would be the next step up from OBS. Then hardware base video switchers such as Newtek...

    Dynaspheres Factory and Manufacturing

It's my understanding, after Albany Hyatt closed, prior to XinBiing entering the market Saluc was the sole manufacturer of phenolic resin billiard balls. This is why Brunswick shifted their Centennial contract to Saluc, maker of Aramith brand. I remember when Super Pro Aramith were only $130...

Anyone with intel on this vintage V. Loria & Sons 9-foot table?

    V. Loria & Sons on the corner Bowery and Kenmare was my go to back in the mid 80's. After a succession of $25 cues from Modell's, I treated myself to a real cue. Real cue meaning no more screw on tips and maple shaft not ramin wood :-) $50 in 1989 got me a sneaky pete with micarta joints...

    How to Own a Poolhall?

Even owning the building is no guarantee of success. Jean Balukas family closed down their poolhall a couple of years ago because they couldn't keep up with the real estate taxes. https://bklyner.com/end-of-an-era-bay-ridges-hall-of-fame-billiards-club-closed-for-good/ I agree, the majority of...

    Pool Ball Shape Testing

If it's phenolic, then it's one of two manufacturers in the world. Saluc and XingBiing. Any set made in Belgium was by Saluc (owner of Aramith brand). This ranges from the lowly $25 Sportcraft to the $400 MSRP Brunswick Centennial. Don't forget Aramith brand have different level tiers...
