I live an hour away from Dave, and have hit with several of his cues... you can't find a better cue for the money, he is very reasonably priced and a great guy to deal with. The craftsmanship is excellent.

I'm far from an expert, but I would guess the balance point of your new cue is causing the problem. Different balance points (forward, middle,back), affect how the cue ball reacts. Blud, if you happen to see this, (or Bandido or any other cuemaker), could you go into more detail about this? I...

I bought a Lucasi 2005 for my girlfriend, as I thought it would be an ok cue for a beginner, and WOW! can't believe how solid the hit is! Hers has the Uni-loc joint, is that the one you opted for also? At any rate, seems to be a very good cue for the money.

There are alot of good tapes available at poolvideo.com that cover everything you could want from an instructional video. They are a little pricey though, you can find some of them used on Ebay for a much better price. Good luck.

Honestly, is this even any kind of arguement? As any serious player knows, whether you are pro, A, B, or C, or even a roadie, on any given day anybody can beat anybody else. Bar rookies have beaten pros, women have beaten men, etc... why not just enjoy the fact that within this sport we all...
