Speaking of pocket size.............
They played this match on a GCIII with 5 inch pockets. Grady Mathews mentioned how they were 5 inch pockets. And then he called them tight pockets. I couldn't believe how big they were, almost buckets!
Was this the norm for tournaments back around 1990...
It was a Black Matte Gold Crown.
Hmmmm?
Maybe the Gold Crown tables back 20-30 years ago were just bad breakers. I've heard Bill Incardona talk about that on the Accu-Stats videos.
FYI here,
I watched the first ten racks of the Bustamante/Pierce semi-final match at the 1995 US Open last night. If I recall correctly out of the ten breaks nobody really had much of a chance to run out. Just never seemed to get a decent shot on the 1B.
I never made it to Evansville today either. The Insomnia was in full force again last night. Hit the hay around 2:00 this morning and was still awake around 8:00 this morning. The Ambien doesn't seem to be working.
I won't be able to get there for a few days now. Hopefully next Monday I'll...
I've done this many times over the years. At times with limited success. Very limited.
And I tried this again tonight. Broke at least 40 racks, had probably five chances to run out. Got out twice.
But as usual, most of the spreads were just impossible. It's not necessarily the lack of...
And by the way, I never made it down to the Mall at Evansville today to hopefully play on a Diamond and see how it plays. This Insomnia crap reared it's ugly head again last night and I was still awake at 7:00 this morning.
I am going to try and go tomorrow (Tuesday) assuming I can indeed...
Uh, what???
I've only heard the announcers on the Accu-Stats videos talk about how a table is stingy around 100 times. And how another table does give up balls.
I had new SuperSpeed cushions installed a few years ago.
It has Simonis 860.
The are Belgium Aramith balls. The Crown set.
Rails are tight. They don't die off the cushions.
It has Brazilian slate. Which has always been a concern of mine as I was hoping for Italian.
Not funny fuggles. I've been a student of this game for over 25 years. I know how to play.
And just so you will know......I tried doing what you suggested with players from Evansville. I got blown off, nobody wanted to help. So much for the brotherhood.
