I agree with all of your thoughts on playing the smartest and safest way in a match. I actually don't like playing straight pool matches, just going for high runs. Real straight pool takes more patience than I possess, which is also why I don't like to play one pocket.:)

I went out yesterday and did it! Here is my new high run of 89 balls. I was so sure that was going to be my first 100, but I dogged it like I always do. I know the last 10-20 balls shouldn't be any different than the first 80, but they are!

I'd could like that if there was a 20 second shot clock from start to finish as well. These players are way too slow nowadays. It would have to be an 8 day tournament...

I see pros and cons to both, but I will NEVER advocate for the events to cater to anyone. To me, an "open" tournament should mean everyone pays the same entry and has the same opportunity. I don't even like players being seeded, although I understand why they do it.

I had an 85 last week on a 9' Diamond with standard 4.5" pockets. No video this time. I'll get a video of a (hopefully higher) run this week. :)

I like it! I definitely play looser until I hit the 3rd or 4th rack. I also bear down on the last two or three balls. Most of my runs end within a couple balls of the break ball on either end. I have a lot to learn about break balls and how to hit them...

I'm not sure that's a possibility here.

On the stream! I reached out to Hank when he was eliminated in Yuma. I invited him to a Men's tournament in Mesa on Saturday and he came out with his dad. He sent Joven to the loser's side, then he sent me over int he next round. He's a great kid and a phenomenal player.

Thanks Jay! I love practicing 14.1 because it forces me to focus! I don't get that as much playing 9 ball or 10 ball.

For what it’s worth, that run was on probably my tenth attempt for the day. I’d be surprised if my average run on all the previous tries was over 15🤪. I hate how hard the game is!
