Playing cue is not used for jump or break hits

I seem to have an issue with my new Lucasi L-EL. I am new to the game but I still think that this is not normal. Every couple of hours of play, the tip of my cue gets "bald" on the sides. Usually not the centre, just the sides. It can't hold chalk well. I use the cuetech bowtie to roughen it...

Don't get me wrong, but apart from the custom cues, I don't think that many cues are made in the US. Especially at the specific price range. Even those that are made in the US, I wonder to which extend they are made or "finished" in the US. There is a relevant thread on here somewhere, I think...

There is a Lucasi "Custom" right on your price range in the bay. Seller is Nielsen Billiards or something like that IIRC. I was looking at it myself before buying locally. Bought before from him with no problems. EDIT: These are the ones I was looking at...

I guess: 1) equipment HAS to be good 2) stuff needs to be polite (not treat clients as VIPs, just nice is enough) 3) Cleanliness 4) Rates need to be reasonable, at least for the people that spend their day in the hall. If a couple of beers/water/coffee/whatever and a couple of hours practise...
