I’ve often thought that some technology that allows you to replace balls exactly in the position they were would be useful. Like if you miss a shot or position you could replace the balls exactly where they were and try it again after the match. I mean you can try that from memory, but being off...
Ryan Theewen of RAT cues does great stack leather wraps. He also did my cork wrap many years ago and it’s still going strong.
I haven’t seen his other leather wraps but I’m sure they are great.
Very strange. Every hall I play in has blue cloth, and many people (including me) use Pagulayan or V10 and I never see “all these little green marks all over”.
But let someone play with Predator 1080 or the old Kamui and there are visible blue marks everywhere!
The WPA rules only speak of unscrewing (a) your playing cue (b) while it’s your opponent’s turn and (c) when he’s on the hill. This example satisfies none of those three requirements.
The BCAPL/CSI rules are similar.
They also specifically give the example of you breaking by dry and hill...
Well under the wording of the rules it’s only a concession if it’s his inning. Presumably I’d be switching at my inning. The announcement that I’m changing shafts would just be to avoid an argument that it was some other form of concession.
Contrary to Skor’s post, there is indeed a rule this this effect right there in the WPA rules.
1.12 CONCESSION
If a player concedes, he loses the match. For example, if a player unscrews his jointed
playing cue-stick while the opponent is at the table and during the opponent’s decisive rack of...
Maybe that will attract viewers. I, personally, will hate it. I don’t even like Mosconi Cup when the fans don’t settle down when the players are actually down on the shot.
Now fans cheering for the players after good shots and so on is great. Just be quiet when they are shooting.
I think it’s tradition/history. Snooker cues were historically made of ash and were one piece cues. At some point they developed two piece cues but they were largely 3/4 joint (see picture as an example).
I think top snooker players feel that you get a better hit with either no joint or a...
Do you know WHY he and other good players do this? Some might be placing it randomly and I only notice when it’s inverted, but I swear some are doing it on purpose.
My only theory is they are trying to get rid of loose chalk in the cube. Like if they grew up playing with crumbling chalk or...
Good point. Given that the top pros get all their shafts and tips for free, it would make sense for them to keep a “tournament ready” back up shaft - with the tip played in just how they like it.
SVB did a “what’s in the case” segment on Karl’s YouTube channel and I could not believe how many...
I may have told this story before, but I remember watching a live stream of a major event held in a casino or convention center. Might have the International Open.
Alex Pagulayan was playing another Filipino pro on the stream and the fire alarm goes off. All the tables stop and wait for the...
