I like the Diamond racks but I have a pet peeve. There is a Diamond on the front of the rack for a reason. Seems like most people don’t notice the center mark on the back of the rack. I think I noticed one without the mark, but most have it. If the table has the line from the spot to the rail you can align the rack better. It now drives me nuts to see the diamond on a corner instead of the apex or the rack used upside down.

The Racks, the felt, the slate, the balls eventually will get dirty and get bad, but the most important thing is getting rid of that damn sticker on the spot. For God’s sake, please don’t put it on the table! Use a Sharpie or something and just mark a dot or a cross on it. Jesus Cry!!!

There were great racks made of ABS.
I have the metallic Delta-13 rack, loves the loud noise it makes when racking… also have a wooden triangle that a carpenter made for a pool hall (that closed) and it works just as good. Wood wears with time, metal doesn’t.
But really who uses racks these days? I’ve been on the Magic Rack wagon since day one and never looked back.
The guy that invented it out of Hong Kong used to be a regular on this forum, I met him in Hong Kong when the magic rack was still in prototype state and been using them since they got into production.
To me the problem are cheap spots. The old Master spots were pretty good. The best I’ve seen are the Simonis spots. Super thin woven material. Although I see from their website that they may not work on Teflon coated cloth.

I was originally asking because of the nice wood racks currently listed on the FS Forum -- if I had a home table I'd buy one.
Someday someone is going to invent a titanium rack that breaks down into three attached sections that somehow snaps together for a nice tight rack and can then be broken down again into three stackable sections. IOWs, something you can transport to the PR.

Someone posted about that foldable metal V rack they use at Ultimate Pool. It’s definitely portable - and to my surprise the poster above says it works well.
If you're playing a game with hard breaking it is unwise to proceed with no spot sticker.
Unless you like that hole that develops...

when broken down it fits in the big pocket of my case. i keep it in the back pouch of the drivers seat in my car, though. its secondary function is a terrifying weapon.

I find it funny that people gripe about the racking noise of Delta Elite w/o inserts. It makes noise for what….3-5 seconds when you rack…. OMG.,… what sensitive ears some people must have?
