    What is up with Earl??

Im convinced it is a combination of mental health issues and drugs. That's why I dont make fun of him or his antics. Making fun of a mental guy isnt fair game in my book. Ken

    Balabushka

I dont think $10K would buy my Balabushka, or either of my Gus Szamboti cues. I have been offered more that $10K for my Southwest. But my Bill Schick is my favorite cue of all, and I think $5K would be a fair price for it. I have never had an issue selling a cue. Problem is I rarely sell...

    strange opinion plus question

I suck with a house cue. Even the ones in my poolroom at home. For a cheap "going to bars" cue I got from Rick Howard is a true sneaky pete and I think I paid $400 for it a few years ago. It plays nearly as good as my more expensive cues and doesnt draw attention. I asked for straight...

Was pool better 50 years ago?

My view. 1.) I consider myself lucky to have seen Efren play in person many times. He is the best I have ever seen, and I have interviewed and seen most players from 50 years ago., 2.) The players today are stronger today than 50 years ago. I think alot has to do with equipment, but you...

    Help with Palmer cue ID

In its present condition and needing shafts, I think its worth is about 3-400. If you want to refinish with new wrap and have a shaft made, I recommend Rick Howard or maybe Proficient Billiards. Be careful as you can spend more on it than its worth on a lower value cue. Best of rolls. Ken

Funny Things Said to You at the Pool Room

As all of us has met a ton of characters over the years. These two one-liners came from my cousin who was a solid pool player but wasnt near shortstop level. It didnt matter what tournament he played in, even if he went 2 and out, when asked how he finished, he would always reply, "I was one...

Custom and High End Cues on the Decline?

As seen below, I have several cues that have quite a bit of value....I didnt buy them because they were expensive, I bought them because I wanted them. My player cue is a 57" Gus Hoppe cue. My two daughters (in their 30's) have all expressed wanting to inherit the guns, coins, cars, etc...

More cue forensics - Wimpy Lassiter

I asked Buddy Hall (considered best 9 baller of all time) who the best 9 ball player he ever saw and he said it was Lassiter. Pool players hardly ever say anything good about another pool player, but it was Buddy had ALOT of respect for Lassiter. Ken

    Runde Schon

I have bought and sold at least 300 cues. Usually there are no universal thoughts, but with two makers of cues this seems to be common. Someone buys a Schon and loves it but eventually sells it and regrets it forever. I have buddys that bitch and moan about what a mistake it was to let one...

    Teddy Bear Palmer

Hopefully this comes out right, but probably not. I think this is a great looking cue, and that folks could have this cue for the same price as what people are paying for Meucci, or Predator cues. IMO crazy to buy a production cue. Checkers sell more than chess I suppose. Ken

    Teddy Bear Palmer

I had to replace the forearm as the orignal forearm was warped. So while it has titlist colored veneers, it is not an actual titlist forearm. Ken

    Teddy Bear Palmer

I just got this back from Scot at Proficient Billiards......As usual he did a great job. This model is my favorite Palmer, with the titlist points. In the gold foil window it says "Teddy Bear Original by Palmer"
