    River City Open

Question, is this event really sponsored by Bacardi? That’s huge for sponsorships if that’s true. Pool might actually be on the up and up again.

    League Play pattern

Sure it’s high variance, but overtime with many games your real skill level will come out. Kind of smoothes out hot streaks but also amplifies bad luck or bad rolls. That’s why you need to take a look at this format as a marathon and not a sprint.

Sad day in the pool world - Mika Immonen 1972 * 2025

RIP Mika. I thought his cancer was in remission and was glad he was pulling through. Pool world lost one of the best to ever pick up a cue.

Predator 10 Ball Format Great for the Game/Audience

You know, this format really mirrors my cheap gambling sets. Races to 4 or 5 winner breaks for cheap. We always play anywhere from 4 to 5 sets as well. This is actually relatable.

    Josh Filler 2025 results

Just because he’s the best player in the world doesn’t mean he’s always going to win or even place in major tournaments. I’ve gotten roasted on this before but you still need some rolls or a little “luck” in tournaments. Your break has to be working, or your opponent misses a shot they’re 99%...

Playing for cash money in 2025?

Normally 9 ball. Race to 4 or 5 for $20. Some players only want to play 8 ball but it’s the same bet. Im only really playing for fun and with people I generally know. Losing $100 isn’t going to hurt but we’re also all pretty friendly with each other and not trying to create bad vibes between us...

Fedor Gorst on the Joe Rogan podcast today

What do you think Joe’s speed is per Fargo rating? I’ve always been curious about this but he seems like a decent player.

    Final 16 Majors

Gambling matches should be winner breaks. Can take the momentum and either runaway with it or make one hell of a comeback. Tournaments, especially majors, should be alternate breaks. Allows for the better technician to control the match. Makes the break and break knowledge extremely vital. Also...

    Frederick/Ellicott City, MD area

Ooof. I left MD almost 4 years ago and a lot of the rooms have closed down. Frederick used to have Champions but it closed a while back. There's no room that I know of in Frederick anymore. Closest spot that has nice 9 foot tables is probably 7 Billiards in Shady Grove, but that's probably 30-40...

    Fargo on Bar boxes

Doesn't the app have a new feature now where you can actually filter for table size and see a "situational" rating? This should end the debate as you'll have actual real-world data.

    RIP CHANG JUNG LIN

Jeez. Stroke at 40 is so crazy. Loved watching his games in the 2010’s. One of the monsters of his generation.

Have you ever visited a pool hall with really good house cues?

Top Hat in Baltimore, MD had Joss house cues. Can’t get better than that.

    Your First Time

Orange Ball Billiards in Rockville, MD. Long time closed and I think its a CVS now lol. Cousins took me there during Thanksgiving? I was in middle school and they were in college at the time. Little did they know it would kick start a hobby that has lasted around 2 decades for me.

Fargo Starter Rating Affecting “True” Average?

Ahh okay. So theoretically if you are assigned a “lower” or “higher” starter it will effect your rating until the 200 or so games. Last question, is the 525 a baseline starter rating? I was curious as to why I got assigned 525.
