Yea that’s what I was thinking. I might try to tape off the wood on the front 12 inches and lightly sand just the carbon. Then I might steam and sand at 800 or 1000 and seal the heck out of it.

They still want to use it as a break shaft. I’m not certain how much material I can remove without making the impact area to thin. I’d probably only need to take it down a mm or less if I was to reshape it.
