If budget is a factor then Dynasphere Tungsten or Bronze balls are excellent. Aramith also do cheaper sets for around $100 not sure how they compare to their own more expensive sets (whereas Dynasphere apparently perform well across their whole range).

Ok, I'm out. I thought I was being helpful pointing something out that would make a 2.25" gauge inaccurate. Guess I was wrong. :confused:

Do the governing bodies for pool state ball size must be 2.25"? If so, Aramith etc are not manufacturing to that spec (but Diamond in Korea are)? Maybe Aramith made the decision to increase the figure by 0.5mm, and Dynaspehere copied them. Not sure why either would do that, but you never know...

Yes, that is what I was thinking. And Aramith and Dynasphere list all of their specs in mm (57.2mm), they don't use inches in their spec. And if a pool ball is not actually 2.25" (57.15mm) then a 2.25" may not be the best option as a gauge, or inches at all for that matter? 57.2mm, which is...

I've had a thought on this. I may be completely wrong, but this should be in metric not imperial? Looking Aramith and Dynasphere websites they are both manufacturing at 57.2mm When I convert 2.25" to mm using Google it comes out as 57.15mm. So, in theory, a 57.2mm ball will never fit through...

Yes I did consider a micrometer, Great for the measurement. But thinking the gauge may be good for also testing for roundness, which the micrometer could not? Hopefully someone can remember the eBay seller?

Does anyone here find that the chalk retention on the cue ball varies most by the actual cue ball itself rather than the chalk? My cue ball from my $50 Dynasphere Tungsten set holds virtually no chalk. Bought an Aramith Pro Cup Spotted Measle cue ball for a similar price as my full Dynasphere...

Hey Canadianguy! Can I ask what price your Black Crown II was brand new? And did it include installation, and Simonis cloth etc?

Mixed reviews!! :) I guess they are around half the price new of a Gold Crown, so you have to expect some shortcomings. That said, they do use them in Tournaments, especially in Canada. Interesting to see people so divided on them!!
