yes, throw is more significant with center ball, maybe that is why the top spin helped in my post above.

I was practicing the same shot except closer to the rail, like 1/4' to 1/2" which gives me more trouble as it is easy to touch the rail and with sensitive cushions can cause a miss. A bystander told me to put some top on the cue ball. It did make the shot much easier. I can't say exactly why...

It worked well for me but ended up off to one side on the end rail. If the 14 was in the middle at the other end it left a thin along the rail cut. I could not get the cue ball to the center of the end rail. I will try the inside spin.

Those are good suggestions. I like the angle best and am experimenting with that one. As for the follow, since the next hit will be a bad hit either way they don't have to worry much about a push or double hit but it seems like it might be harder to judge if they were frozen. Thanks for the tips.

I plan to experiment with that a little to see how it works out. I am hoping someone has a specific set up and angle to help make it predictable. I would be starting from scratch on even where to place the cue ball to make it easiset.

Your 6 plus side pocket shot off a rail with little or even no angle but coming at the pocket from close to the corner pocket. Just a roll it in straight or almost straight shot into the side pocket. Object ball on or near the spot.

This is a shot I struggle with. I watch the pros do it like it is nothing but it drives me crazy. I miss the shot, follow the ball in, die on the end rail, pretty much do everything except hit it good. I have the same problem on the end rails. There just doesn't seem to be enough angle for me.

That was my conclusion. If you don't have much angle you have to hit the ball so hard with stun it becomes more difficult. I get Patrick's point about fewer variables but the speed variable becomes so dominant the shot itself becomes more difficult. Perhaps simpler, but harder to execute.
