Other streams use traditional colors. With modern televisions, there are no issues distinguishing the balls. I'd guess ball manufacturers pay to get their products that kind of exposure. Matchroom is responsible for the sale of thousands of those abortions from Aramith.

I find it difficult to believe someone thought it a good idea to screw up the game by switching the colors of consecutive numbered balls for free.

The pink 4 was claimed to be for TV viewing. I agree with others that with modern 1080 and 4K it makes zero difference.
The color changes after that, are for product differentiation, imo.

The 4 ball was pink and the 5 ball was orange in the 2015 Mosconi Cup.
There were no issues seeing the balls or distinguishing which ball was which.
Any change after that is to sell more ball sets.
If Aramith came out with the "ghost set", with every ball colored white with only the numbers printed on the balls, for enough money, Emily would be out there telling viewers it was the best ball set ever.

I have no problem and actually like the new colors of the Black set. Except that they used purple for the 5. Switch the 4 to purple and 5 to orange (you can buy an orange 5 ball for that set) and they would be great!
The pros were playing on great equipment before these switched colored balls.
It appears the maker of the old black set of the 80s or 90s clearly missed an opportunity to make money by not paying to get them featured on TV.
This new black set is worse than the elephant beautiful balls from back in the day.
We're all glad the payouts are growing. They deserve to be paid well for their insane work ethic and talent.
I don't think that applies to the purple five ball. I think that was entirely Matchroom branding their events. Another example of that is the gray cloth. When you see purple on gray, you know it's Matchroom.

I hate seeing the turd brown 7, that one needs to be maroon, along with a purple 4 and an orange 5. Not crazy about the tournament blue cloth either...

As in " I think he will be playing the orange 5 ball or the blue 2. Instead if the balls were a standard color; a commentators could just say he will be playing the 5 ball or 7 ball next, and everyone would know which ball they are referring to.
