By becoming the ‘official’ winner of the PremierBilliards.com’s Q City 9-Ball Tour Championships this past weekend (Sat., Dec. 14), Joey Tate became the first competitor to win both the Q City 9-Ball Tour and affiliated TOP (The Open Player) Tour Championships. I wonder if the time of the evening had anything to do with the split. It often does.
 
I understand the reasoning behind splits, but they still drive me crazy.
What drives me crazy are the TDs who arrange for the final match to be at 3:30 AM. I think the players get a pass even if it's only 11PM. Most pool players have day jobs.
 
I used to run tournaments in a past life, and there was always a difference with the room owner and the players. When we would start to see an event was going to run deep into the morning, the players wanted to finish things up, no matter how late it went. The room owner wanted the event to come back the next day (more business, didn't have to pay the staff to stay extra hours).

It's always a juggling act to run events.
