UK “women’s” final

Just a reminder: be nice. It’s a hot topic.
Women sued to be part of spaces that were strictly for men in order to participate- but that was mostly long ago and needed at that time. And now that we do have that right, most of us have zero issues with men’s events and women’s events ( and what happened with the Boy Scouts was stupid, in my opinion.)
When I was a kid women could not get an apartment or a credit card without their husbands’ or fathers’ consent… both the men and women before us fought for equality and I am incredibly grateful. I’m allowed in a pool hall, I have a great job, I was a college athlete, and do all kinds of things my grandmothers weren’t allowed to do.
Allowing men to compete in women’s sports is going the wrong direction.

No she doesn't. The only thing she wins is junior tournaments & watered down women's events.
She was just at Hard Times and ran through a bunch of guys till Oscar.

Last week she was just at Griffs and went undefeated before losing in the finals.

Of course, she is a prodigy and has great potential, so her beating up on men would be the exception.

Did she win?

IMO she shouldn't even be playing in those events as a "professional." All she does is play pool correct?

Running through a bunch of guys that are over 100 Fargo points shy of being a bottom of the rung pro really isn't that impressive in the grand scheme of things.

Which is right where she should be right now. That shouldnt be a slight against her.

She is a very bright up and coming player that will eventually be snapping off women's events and cashing in open majors.
On the other side of the coin she could be topped out already.

All the young lady does is play pool - I would expect more at this stage.

Yea you didn't watch any of it and I don't blame you and most of the country. Our best tournaments are out here in the west coast and the time difference is a huge factor.

Her matches are everywhere. You can even go to the original stream and see how good her opponents are.

I have seen her play from several feet away.

Let's take an existing event that has categories for Open and Women.

Super Billiards Expo Amateur Tournament. Happening this week.

They have an Open field that everyone competes in. They have a Women's event also that only women can compete in.

What modifications to this event would you do to ensure it's success and also make it so everyone can thrive?
In the current context what can you do? That division shouldn't need to be there, but the context that's laid before it makes it so. The whole context in which the game is approached from the 'grassroots' (Youngest level) needs to change - atmosphere, branding, marketing. It's all quite specifically tailored to fit the current demographic, which has been discussed in detail the last time this exact same topic was brought up... But as I mentioned earlier to someone who capitalized the fact that it won't change, that's right, because of the profit made from this model. Whether it’s good for the development of players or not. As I said to Gar, equal opportunity is not some being allowed into the circle, or some feeling comfortable, it’s creating a circle for everyone to thrive.

Nobody knows.
I'm not quite sure where to start with you 😂 It's pretty clear, I am not going to waste anymore time explaining just for your sake. If you want to know my thoughts, try re-reading, or finding the other thread. Have let myself get sucked into the troll pit here lol

LOL

I bet you like to use gay and trans slurs at home. You just pretend to be an advocate here.
No, I don't need to infer someone is like another, I usually comment on the observed stupidity that unfolds before me directly... :)

I think he might well do given his attitude 😂
I'm not trying to argue or pick fights here. I was trying to be silly, funny and move forward. Apologies for this comment. Doesn't really help anyone or add to the conversation, and just looks like I'm directly trying to antagonize you in some kind of tit for tat return to your earlier comments. Which I am not.

Anyway, as I said earlier, hope everyone can get to a point where they can simply enjoy pushing balls with their sticks.

You are just repeating what you previously said with the exception of the rebranding and marketing.

Im genuinely interested in how you think the event would be perfect and inclusive for everyone to thrive in. Is it something you can bullet point/outline or something like that?

If a single event is too specific for you, can you list how you would change pool events/tournaments in general?

And I'd repeat it again, and again, and again. As I am not an expert, monied influential person or anyone who is going to change anything. I am just an individual who wants everyone to enjoy the game, free from preconceived notions that moving a stick backward and forward is related to biology... I tend to believe that actually, yes, this difference is related to 'gender' and the psychological damage that this fabrication infers onto players.

Sure. All events should be open. Done.
Getting there is a road to travel. Creating the context for ALL individuals to thrive, is a long journey. Beginning with players at the youngest age being exposed to the game in a way that helps ALL individuals grow and thrive. Long existing bias needs to be dealt with.

How long do you think it would take before a biological female to snap off a major?

There have been a lot of the top female players currently playing in majors for decades and rarely do they make it to the top 8 in the larger events.

I would love for it to be sooner rather than later. There are already many who are capable of doing so, they just need the same opportunities and incentives as men, and the money to enter the events. The opportunities and incentive starts from the psychological attitudes imparted on, and developed by players at the youngest age of play/entry to the game. I think there's a few women here in China who could snap off a major if they had the incentive to compete in every available event as the top men do. But there is money to be made elsewhere for these great players. Here sexism is also much more prevalent in the game sadly.

Amazing players they are, sadly psychologically tainted by the perspective they are women competing against men, not pool player competing against pool player.

While we disagree, I appreciate the civility and discussion.

This run is where she just punishes everyone. The guy after got his face blew off too. Probably the best she's ever played.
