UK “women’s” final

What does gender have to do with pool? Nothing. However hard people want to argue the toss about it... It exists to be exploited for money... That's about it... regardless of people talking bollocks about fast-twitch muscle fibers, and differences in vision and whatever other nonsense that doesn't actually account for the gender gap in the game... Level the playing field at grass roots level, remove gender from the game entirely... Been done to death on this forum...

kelly fisher means that there is a pronounced difference in both breaking explosiveness and what she called competitive aggression. i believe her. going your route, not having a women's division at all, we wouldn't have heard of kelly fisher or any other of the great women players.

I once shared your opinion, however it is wrong. Females can not compete with men on a level playing field playing pool. That isn't as obvious at lower levels where a lady may be a more advanced player than a man. When it comes to the highest levels, the very best ladies fall short of the very best men. There may be the rare sport or freak in medical terms that can compete, but one in a million ladies able to doesn't change the general fact.

As I noted at a very early age, males are different than females. It may be superior strength or leverage or how the mind evolved. It may be millions of years of evolution which isn't changed in a few hundred years. Men were the primary hunters, women the primary gatherers. The evolution of different capacities from that may still define some of the differences between men and women.

Flo Jo still holds a record or two all these years later. Looking at her physique, while it might be a freak from birth, I suspect with gender testing she would be disqualified as a man. There was a lady from Africa with this issue. She did nothing to cheat, her body just produced an abundance of male hormones and she was often banned from competing. Seems unjust to her, but it would be unjust to other women to let her compete with them. Across all sports, there are a few more females with these issues today. Through no fault of their own, they shouldn't be classed as female.

No doubt the discussion should be moved to NPR if we wanted to seriously discuss it. I am not really interested as it has been beaten to death in multiple discussions in the twenty years I have been on AZB. The reasons don't matter, pool while it seems it should be, isn't a level playing field for men and women.

Biological women compete in most Open majors... they have never won one.

Apparently, a lot. Night and day, actually. The top rated women players wouldnt even make the top 100 in the mens field. As another poster said, if women didnt have their own events, we wouldnt have even heard about kelly fisher etc. The best and closest woman player in the world, siming chen, is an outlier, and comes in 86th place behind the top men. The others, dont make the top 100. Its a complete farce and injustice to women.

Facts

Although Siming would be top 6 in US

And 10 of them would be top 30 in the US - we suck

This brings up something interesting... how does a trans player show up in Fargo? Like what if they had an established rating before transitioning?

Ex. Fedor Gorst is number 3 in the world with an 845 Fargo. If he transitioned to female, would he automatically go to number one on the Top Female player list or would he just stay in the top overall players even though he is a female now?

This isn't little Savannah Easton whooping ass on the men. This is pro level.

She even played against Oscar in the Finals and Oscar was chilling. Played a couple of safe shots and it was over.

Yes to Gorst. He would jump to 1,000.

The tour is between a rock and a hard place. Whatever they do is going to be wrong. Wrong to let these men play. They face possible and probable discrimination lawsuits if they don't. I like the simple rule that people compete with the gender they are born with. That seems simple enough.

Female player here. Gender has lots to do with all things physical pursuits… And it’s not just the old testosterone thing. It’s a lot of things males have a competitive advantage physically, mentally, special awareness, etc., when it comes to sports.
(Women have advantages when it comes to survival situations, pain tolerance, and the way our brains work for other things. No need to get into the whole thing. I’m just sick of saying that there’s not a difference between the sexes when there are our countless differences)

In Pool, there are men’s events, there are women’s events, and there are open events open to all. Pool is one of the few places where there is an option for transgender athletes to be in the open events. I respect somebody’s right to live their life however they want to live it. But I am very sick of hearing of how a biological male makes the best female.
The best high school female athletes are now biological males… same with college swimmers and other sports. Watching a transgender female, a biological male, in a UFC fight is like watching a man beat up a woman. It’s horrible. I don’t know why everybody is so afraid of this issue… Everyone needs to stand up and say this is a violation of women’s rights across the board. But everyone’s so afraid of the political correctness. But why are we putting that ahead of basic decency? ahead of girls in sports? ahead of feminism?
Anyway… I love pool and dedicate a lot of time and energy to it and this thing in the UK broke my heart.

And it is, by FAR, the minority that supports this farce. The thing is, the people that do support this, get quite violent, and companies/sponsors dont want to touch it with a ten foot pole. So, Who suffers in the end? Women. How much prize money, accolades, scholarships, and opportunities have been stripped from women?
