GENDER IN POOL ... Do Men Play Better Than Women? ... Recent Legal Trial

Men are naturally more aggressive in their thinking due to that little hormone called testosterone. It affects how we see patterns, ball position and shot selection as well as execution.
Women are the nurturers, for want of a better word and they see things from a totally different perspective, thus affecting their approach to all of the above listed ways men tackle the game. Neither good nor bad, just is.
I believe the "nurture" notion is a result of a subjective bias. We want it to be true.

Androgens do cause one to be aggressive, but women have androgen too. And we aren't simple products of our hormones, nor our genes. None of us are.

I think it's more accurate to say the males are more task focused and less capable of multitasking. Females are very capable at multitasking. This leads to their talents and aptitudes being different and somewhat polarizing and binary. However it is a spectrum, some men can multitask well, and some women can't.

I think one complication is that small, regional tournaments would find it difficult to determine who is transgendered if the person doesn't publicly identify as such. Not all cases are obvious by appearance and it would take significant resources to run chromosomal and hormonal tests.

Good point. This "complication" is present at all levels of competition (because there is no routine testing of everyone). Only known players who change gender status are clearly on the radar.

a simple contract stating that all prize money, metals, trophy's and recognition would be forfeited if violating the standards required to enter.
would go a long way .

since in most sports women can enter all mens competition then someone needs to win a court case where men can enter all women's events. then something about it would get done quickly to resolve.

maybe he has but surely it escalated in the early to mid 00's..
Yes, but is that progression of pathology, or age related decline? Or both? Age isn't a disease.

I dunno. He's hard to pin down. I just don't think he's a particularly good "typical" example to use fir anything.

Then again, the more elite the player is, the more atypical they might be, one could say.

Well stated, especially the last paragraph. I'm also all for letting individuals live their lives as they choose. Unfortunately for them, those choices sometimes limit what is possible for them.
Men are the pursuers' in nature while women are the pursued. Competition naturally derives different forms on both sides of that equation. Men compete more to pass on their gene pool while women are the more selective of the two. How this applies to competitive games and sports is self explanatory.

Glad you put that past sentence in there.

isnt this the definitive treatise on the subject???..... 😂

Thanks.

Finally a real doctor here to explain.

I hope people understand now.

I agree. And that's why I said we need to be compassionate and understanding towards all parties involved. That includes not only the trans gender athlete but the biological women who would have to compete against them.

Like many of us have mentioned already, it's a complicated situation that's unlikely to end with everyone being happy. But that's life. I've been through some pretty bad stuff the past few years with the sudden loss of two of the most important people in my life as well as the ensuing shit-show that has been their estate. And I developed a saying -a mantra if you will- to keep me sane when garbage things happen to my in daily life. "If this is the worst thing that happens to me today, I'm living a blessed life." Honestly, keeping that in mind has given me a perspective that I wish I could share with everyone. And I can't help but think that if not being able to compete in their preferred gender class is the worst thing that happens to a trans gendered person on any given day, they'd still be living a blessed life. Even though that may sound harsh to some, I say it with love, compassion, and understanding. Some of the best and most helpful things I've ever heard were hard for me to hear for the first time. And I'm thankful for the people who told me.

Its not complicated at all. You are the gender you were assigned at birth as observed by your doctor based on your anatomy and chromosomal makeup. The fact that this is even a conversation is, to me, an alarming symptom of a society in decline.

While anyone suffering from the mental/psychological disorder of gender dysphoria has my sympathy, normalizing abnormal behavior, and reinforcing anyone's false perceptions of themselves is just a huge fail.

I seem recall from reading something years ago that the most significant difference between the genders was their perception and processing of spacial relationships and that boys, playing more ball sports and stuff like that, develop better skills at tasks like that.

IOWs, men see the relationships -- distances, speeds, forces, spins, and elevations -- between the CB, OBs, cushions, and pockets differently (better/more accurately) than women.
