There are always going to be a few matches like this in the last stage of the loser's qualification.

Krause lost to journeyman Matt Edwards (742 Fargo) in the second round. That's how he was put in this spot.

Alcaide lost to Nguyen Ahn Tuan in his third match, 9-4, during the winners qualification round.

Again, you are going to run into a good opponent at that stage. By the way, Alcaide barely won his prior match, 9-8, over Marcel Price (727 Fargo).

Fans don't want to see lopsided matches for the first two and a half days of the tourney. Krause and Alcaide put themselves in the position.

Didn't Sky recently get married? Maybe he is still mentally in Honeymoon mode. Here's hoping he had a great wedding and will be back in top form soon.

I do not get the chance to watch Sky very often but the matches I have caught this year were almost all underwhelming.
I'd rather watch Billy currently.
It was good to see Payne get a win over a world-class player, too.

A billiard-related apparel business, I think he told the Boomer and Freezer show. You'd figure he would want to play better if that is the case.

It was weird. Sky took two breaks. He was walking around, smiling. Even when he was down, he was acting like it was no big deal. Never saw any sense of urgency.

To be fair, I've not seen Woodward like that before. Hope I don't again. He had no business losing that match

Ko has not had a great year. Part of the reason, I suspect, is he hasn't played all that much.

Flamed out in the WPC. Didn't play in the UK Open. Made it the final 16 of the European Open, but had arguably the easiest path of any player to get there. He then lost handily Daniel Maciol, 10-4.

Doesn't seem to have played in a ton of WPA events, either.

shane has looked quite tired, my money would be on big ko. i think both brothers will be in single elim. sky will play on main table again, against hoang

Yes. Hard for me to think SVB will do it for the second time in row. But then, Ko has struggled in big events this year.

All three Ko brothers now in the double-elimination round (EDITED FOR ACCURACY).

Like it or not, when Sky is playing his best - it looks nonchalant. He was playing his best a couple of years ago, and that was probably his best chance to really break through. It may just not be in the cards for him.
 
SVB had his chances. Ko broke dry at least four times. Shane scratched on the break again. I swear, he’s done it more than anyone on the WNT tour this year. Not entirely accidental imo.

He also played at least three poor safeties. I’ve seen a slew of American players this week screw up safeties. SVB, Sky, Styer, Henderson, Fracasso-Verner. Can’t any American play this game?

SVB also fouled twice on jump shots.

Methinks he never should have went to BOTB. He looked tired all this week.
 
Who would have guessed. The five U.S. born players in the final 64 are Tyler Styer, Oscar Dominguez, Chris Reinhold, Brandon Shuff and Lukas Fracasso-Verner.

Jeremy Jones should have joined them, except a slop shot - yes a slop shot - likely cost him the match.

No SVB or Sky.
