Things I Don't Understand at the Pool Room

The thing that I don't understand is why there isn't a Room Owners Association and why they aren't a major player
in the professional sport along with players and the manufacturers on board for the purposes of a core US tour at
least at the Semi-Pro level. It just seems like there is cog in the wheel missing that shouldn't be between the amateur
and the pro player.

Just what we need. More regulation around opening up pool rooms.

Some people like to play on same table every time they go. Today is revenge for taking his table.

It is not going to happen this is just another DEAD HORSE idea talked to death, and never done anything thing about. Pool is just disorganized, not focused in any direction, but misdirection, and not core organization like REAL Sport like PGA, or USTA, even Cornhole is better organized.

This week a guy that looked like a pool player, had nice gear, picked one of the tighter 9 fters, recognized that the cloth was still recently replaced, checked how fast the table played, then parked at the end of the table next to our table, where we were playing a race, and hit long shots. Then someone came over to talk to him and now there is 2 people in the way. Had to tap him on the shoulder a couple of times.
He couldn't make a ball and moved to a smaller table.
A decent pool player will understand some basic pool etiquette, like keep out of the way of a game going on when practicing.
It just shows that they are inconsiderate and/or have not spent a lot of time in a pool room.
When we left a car had parked next to my friends nice Tesla at the end of an uncrowded parking lot. I am guessing it was him.
Also this week, played someone in a match that was Not rack your own. Asked racker to use magic rack. He then used the wood rack.
I looked at the rack and had him try a few times to get it tight. Finally just broke, and ran. Very satisfying.

The other aggravating thing that happens all the time, when someone finishes their shot they just stand there in the way of other tables or players. Sometimes I’ll say, if you sit down by YOUR table you won’t always be in someone’s way.

I notice this at all levels including the top pro's. You have made the shot, you didn't pocket a ball, sit the hell down! If you tried to play a safe or two way shot you will know as soon as your opponent gets to the table and you have no further control over the shot. Not unusual to see the shooter study the incoming players shots and options even. Your inning is over, sit down! Often the offending player is blocking somebody else's path around the table or position needed to shoot.

Your inning is over, sit down! A simple concept.

Exactly ...don't throw the bat, break your racket, toss the club.....graciously walk away and sit down.

I agree 💯.
I also find myself standing there like an idiot after a miss, sometimes. I know better and am embarrassed about it😂.
On the bright side, I stopped looking to see if they're hooked many years ago and head straight to my chair.
Progress!

We live in a world in which courtesy is all but dead. Why expect any in a pool room? Just kidding, a little bit. Pool etiquette is just another endangered aspect of our sport.

We need another emoticon. As happens pretty often, I agree with what you are saying 100% but object to the content being right.

I didn't say not one thing about there being any regulations around opening up a pool room.

and Cornhole, just like Pool Leagues occurs in Pool Rooms.

Pool Rooms are becoming event centers.

I'm sure there's a bunch of them but here are two to start off:

1. Why, in -- literally a big empty pool room -- will someone come in and take the table next to you.

2. Why, after taking said table, will that individual start shooting drills or a practice shot, from the end of the table that abuts yours -- I mean, the shot/drill looks exactly the same from da other end of the table, lol.

OK, I feel better now
but just a little

This is daily life in China haha little bit of light-hearted banter and you have yourself a game, or they politely change position.

1. Get phone out
2. Call somebody, hopefully one with an annoying voice
3. Lay the phone on the rail, on speaker and proceed to conversate. Double bonus if you start arguing about politics or sports.

Things will just work their way out naturally.

The place i play, Magoo's in Tulsa, has four nice chairs per big table. They are for THAT table only. I don't know how many times i've had to tell people to move. They are so clueless as to anything pool related, same thing for these nimrods who get the table next to you when the whole joint is open. Luckily we have a house guy that will run things right on his shifts. Some of the other counter help is as clueless as the ned's off the street.

I call bullshit.... Next thing you're gonna say is that a big titted voluptuous woman takes her clothes off down to the high heels and lingerie doing a sexually suggestive photo shoot while you're playing (err....at least trying to with that going on....)
🤗

I worked in a poolhall and some people just have favorite tables. I remeber these two old guys that would always play on table #3 And these other two guys that would play on table #12. And this one woman that would always play on table #14.
