I was watching some recent Heyball tournament videos and just came across a player asking for a video review, which I've never seen before.

(Start at 2:20 if the video doesn't already take you there)

I'm amazed that he did it right as his opponent got on the 8 and his opponent didn't bat an eye. The culture around sportsmanship and sharking must be really different in Heyball. If this was the US Open, players would be posting three page apologies on social media just to calm everyone down!

I read the opponent's body language a little differently. To me, it was JMFC. Or maybe that's just what I would have been saying.

I wonder if there is any penalty for failed review requests.

I have seen pool players ask for a video review, but it is very rare.

Here's a famous moment in which Darryl Peach was visibly upset by a call late in the 2007 World 9ball semifinal vs Bustamante. On the hill, Bustamante caromed in the 9ball on a kick to, seemingly, end the match.

The time stamp is 1:36:30

A video review took place and the call that Bustamante had made a legal hit was reversed, a match altering call, as Peach went on to win.

I have no issues with it IF it's done FAST. Video replay done wrong could make the game even slower and that it can't afford. With 'well trained' refs it shouldn't be needed.

Obviously, in the match noted in Post 4, the ruling took forever, but getting a match deciding call correct in a World 9ball semifinal matters a lot.
