However, these soft breaks were not the Corey Duel type where all the balls were in the same half table. The ball were spreading well all over the table so I don’t think the soft breaks were that bad, but I am not an expert on this subject.
the rule is subjective (it shouldnt be) and says break should be "forceful". if you ask the players they all know when someone is soft breaking. one way to see is that his cue ball almost never reaches the other side rail. also the two object balls in second last row of the diamond have very little movement. ref should have warned him in FSR match, and in the final too he broke soft.
